It's been a slow process but the shoe is almost done! It got a set of wicked *** flames last week so I thought I'd share some pics of the process. Some pics were taken of the lay out process I think but I don't have them yet. Also no fine finished product pics but I'll have some in a couple of days. The dude in the pics with the gun is my friend Dustin. He taped and sprayed the flames in his shop. He did one hell of a job. before taped base coat outline more.. Flames!! The end!
Damn, those look NICE! What color you gonna stripe them? For some reason red pops into my mind for the striping...not that yoou asked.
Not sure about which color to stripe 'em just yet. You can kinda see the dash in one of the pics. It's painted a greenish color with fades to a green/blue?. Really custom blend that's hard to describe. Might try to match up the stripes to it but just don't know. We'll probably try a few colors before deciding. Just for Hank, the wheels are now a high shine black with the WWW! Cracked the plexi ones when we bolted them up!! The finished pics are crazy and soon to come! Thaks for the props guys. Bad thing is we got it done and started thinking about chopping the top!!!?????
I say a lime green or baby blue flame outline. But I like really different color schemes. Great looking flames. Geno
Excellent job, but it looks like you may have gotten a little overspray on the tires..... all of them...
Sweet bro!!!........love to see some daylight shots.......those flames look like they'll really dance in the sunlight!!.........nice work!
Very cool. And here's another vote for lime green on the outlines, but white might work, for a real trad look.
Very, very cool, Man! I'm really digging that look. Congratulations, it pays homage to the Watson and Roth/Baron "crazy painter" days. Joel
Strange a couple of you mentioned the off-white stripe option. When we pulled the bulk masking off a large portion of the layout tape was left around the flames. We both thought it looked pretty *****in in that masking tape off-white color! We'll see. The guy, Dustin, that layed out the flames is an artist man that's all I can say. I went in with a vision in my head and told him I wanted seaweed flames but not the normal type seen. I wanted no two flames alike. We both like the Watson style so I knew he'd get it. He had those laid out in about an hour and it was just like the pic I had in my brain! Every flame on it is unique and is not duplicated from side to side, yet it has balance! He did the same thing on nailing the dash and flame color. All credit goes to him. He lurks here so thanks again dude on makin my ride!
Out of control. Glad I am not the one striping them. I would say a green, something subtle in relation to the body and colors of the flames. But hey that is just me, I tend to be a little conservative at times ! Geoff aka Whodaky
I agree with HC, off or antique white would set it off. Elvis do you know Tim Goodbar, i belive that is his last name, he does custom and body work around the Tulsa area?
