The penetration issue for firearms can be offset by using a shotgun. However, then you have a really big shot pattern to worry about!
There's no easy answers when it comes to protecting what's yours. You have to decide that your 'stuff' is worth killing over. Of course the thieves have to decide your 'stuff' is worth dying for ...
    No easy answers ...
BTW, the 'Recyclers' stopped by my shop this afternoon wanted to take care of my excess metal ...

I have a Victorian Bull, she's a good watch dog.

You should have called the cops as soon as you saw the door open...then hold them at gunpoint until the cops arrive. If the crooks made a move toward you while you are restraining them....it's your call what to do next. Down here we shoot first and call the cops later.

I thought California only could have frangible bullets now days? if that is the case i would not worry about over penetration as much as under if they had a gun. Just curious did they look like the meth head type people from what you saw? Hope you catch them!

  4. A fellow I used to know had a private shop in a big old building in a bad part of the city. One time when I was there I took notice of the fact that he didn't have any tool boxes or tool racks. His response was that he hid his tools all around the shop under junk or anything that would shield them. He let the place get junky, though he was a guy that liked to keep things neat. His shop got broken into many times but he hardly ever lost anything.:)

  5. Then people will just think he builds rat rods :D

I don't think you get it. It ain't 'badass' to protect one's property. My .45 is a tool, more humane than using a baseball bat, and just as legal.

I am sorry to hear this Gimpy and applaud you for being level headed.
Hope they learned their lesson and never come back.

  9. Sorry to hear. A cop once told me, if you take a gun out never be afraid to use it. Oh and use all the bullets. Hey, he's on your property and you thought he had a gun in his hand. I would sleep there for awhile with gun very close.

I used to work at a music store when I was younger, some little bastard came in at closing with a knife and snatched the money right out of the drawer when I was counting it! Totally caught me off guard! I think about it now and the things I should have done but glad I didn't!

your friend should have just killed the dude! i know it sucks, i dont want to kill anyone! but when it comes to family! anyone fucking around in my house when the kids and wife are asleep should be a dead man!!!!! fucken balls on the guy for telling him to fuck off! that alone he should have been shot for!

  12. I don't think you do.

OWNING a gun and puffing up online is miles apart from actually pulling the trigger. If you have never dropped a round into another human being, you won't know if you can actually do it. I have had several guns pointed at me (ran a night club), but not a single one had the balls to pull the trigger. Guys that talk a tough game about how they would shoot someone are usually the last ones to ever feel the recoil. That's how we knew who was going to pull it or not. The mouthiest braggards never do.
