grant ive got that s-10 with swingin clutch and brake pedal outta klaus' truck. i'm not sure if it'll work or not but we could hack that outta there anyway. i thought bout using brake pedal and m/c in the 53 but ive got access to 2 automatic pedal assemblys. let me know dude.
an hour the way i used to drive; more like an hour and a half now. regardless of what my signature says. i'm about a hunnert miles away; about the same for choprods & scarliner; a bit farther for the st. louis crowd; and there are 4-5 folks not far from me. i think i remember someone from the keokuk area. don't know who's on the illini side of the river. a bit far for evenings, but whole days are doable. looks like you've got a couple of buds in your area who also have recently signed on, too. (how 'bout puttin' your town name in your profile?) i've got an msword file that i keep all the missouri hambers info in, and everyone else that i know of is farther away than the ones i mentioned above. so let us know if you want to try a thrash. if it's a time i can make i'll help.
Uh, I was typing too fast for my brain... Yeah, I ment thrash... don't want to trash your project... A weekend thrash. That way we could spend a couple of quality days getting a leg up on the project. Kinda like a HAMB Chop thing. Set a date. Let us know. We might need to sleep on the shop floor though... r
Gleeser, I think what you are doing is great! Friends like you only come by once in a life time. Id be all over helping out, let us know about the Thrash. Raven, we could hook up and drive out together. FF
Hey homie Ill throw in these shiftknobs and striped boxes mabe u can trade for parts, just a thought. KILLER
Well, the pedals are on their way. As soon as they get here, that's the first order of business. After that, I'll move into the trunk area to get that all cleaned up and what not. Next thing after that will be the stainless firewall. He wanted it to be chrome but the wait here is about 8 weeks on chrome so I'm just going to cut a sheet of polished stainless and use that. Be much quicker I think. After that I suppose will be the grill shell. That one will be interesting. I know for a fact he wants a shroud made to cover the radiator. I may end up having to drop the rad. down lower because once the grill goes on the line is going to be way high if it stays where it is. After that I'll turn back to the interior to build a "firewall" behind the front seat/seats. Then the interior will be down to the dressing. There are no interior window mouldings, anybody got ideas there? Anyway, I suppose the next thing after a little rust repair will be paint, followed by gauges, wiring and interior. Gee, it sounds so simple when broken down like that... I'll keep you guys posted. I do need a good suggestion for a seat though. I'd like to find a bench with a slider under about 43". That would be absolutely perfect and would help me out immensly.
HEY BUD..HERES A SHOT OF THE PLATE I GOT FOR OLE BOYZ COUPE.. GONNA STOP BY YOUR PLACE TOMARROW AND BS A BIT... NOW THEN, ANY UPDATES FOR THE FOLKS HERE??? BREEDER
I posted one other time not long ago about the progress. Maybe I should add the pics into this thread.
Kenny, I think I got the decklid sorted out. I did a lil trimming and got it where I could slide it into my planishing hammer and smooth out most of what was there. Took a second guy to hold the lid up while I ran the hammer but it worked. I was worried about it before I had the hammer but now I'm 90% satisfied with it. Needs a lil more luv. Thanks again for the stuff you've helped me with.
i totally agree that it needs a duece shell on a chopped radiator similar to evilfordcoupes, that thing is sick.---- now go a buy original for $1200 on ebay......
Check out mini van rear seats, the center seat from a dodge does have tracks. I can measure the width tonite for you. You should be able to find one in a wrecking yard for about 30-40 bucks.
I got the seat worked out last week. Need to post that. I sectioned 17" out of a F-150 seat. Works perfect!!!
yeah, I'm gonna have to cut off the outside armrest though. Thinking about keeping the glide mechanism though so it REALLY throws you back when you get on it!
Here's another short update. This is the F-150 seat I "sectioned" to fit. It worked out good. Also there's a shot of the rear pan that I welded into it. I'm going to have a gas tank folded up to fit in the dropped down portion of the rear pan. It'll go about 3/4 across and the battery will sit sort of beside it.
Hell yeah! It makes me smile to see what you are doing for your buddy. That is badass! I think you should just concentrate on getting it streetable though, that way he can enjoy it as much as possible. Do the body work later, once its running. Great job man!
What goes around, comes around.... and you will get yours for being a true. I hope your friend gets better. Our prayers are with you both.
