I have been collecting parts for a truck for almost 2 yrs. and have just about got all the parts to start ***embling the frame. I have been slowly working on the cab of the truck for alittle over a year. The worst part of the whole truck was the doors. They had been trashed and were gonna be a major undertaking to fix. Also, as you can see in one picture the cab was cracked and busted up like an egg shell. The good thing is there is no major rust but alot of welding to fix the cracks. The cab was from Kansas and I have been told the roads were rough and contributed to the cracking problem.

Great project and an awesome looking frame. I'm just starting a 28 tudor. Does metal man do frames for others? If so, how might I get in touch with him?
    Have a good night,,,,

Metal man does some nice work. Im not for sure if he does A frames or not but Im sure he could. Just look up metal man on here and send him a pm. Tell him dirt slinger sent you. He will treat you right. He is one of many respectable people on the hamb.

I have since dis***embled the cab for some sand blasting. I did this myself out in the yard with a TSC blaster and sifted play sand. Notice the 2 small utensiles I found above the windshield. Must have been someones lunch opening tools back in the day.

Here's the rearend I ac***ulated for free. My dad got it somewhere along the way and give it to me for my truck. Its a nice 36 with the bones and juice brakes on it already. Of co**** I will have to rebuild the brakes but it seems that be very clean and in good shape on the inside. The ring gear doesnt even look as if it has any wear. The center section is dated 9-37 so it may have been built at some time. I noticed that the pinion bearing had "made in usa" on it, did they do that in 1937?

I found a decent set of front fenders and bed with a tailgate up around Knoxville, TN. I was tickled that I found these close enough for a days road trip to pick them up. The rear fenders are the parts that are as rare as hens teeth BUT I may have come up with a solution. I bought a set of 34 chevy rear fenders for real cheap at a swap meet. They will require a slight modification (later on) but I believe they will work just fine with that slight variation that will make my truck a bit different from others. I will probably get hosed for the chevy fenders on a ford but I gotta do what I gotta do.

My '34 doors are pretty beat up and need replacing from the belt line down. I decided to drive it like it is .... it is probably the most dented '34 pickup around these parts. I kinda like it looking that way .... it is a testament to its 78 odd years of hard work as a commercial vehicle.

Good luck with your build, the lenght of the build doesn't matter it's what you end up with when it's finished.

Thanks for the info 56don, but I bought a really nice set last summer. They cost me as much as the other cab but no rust and already blasted. Just a little hammer and dolly work and some tidying up and they will be perfect. I just havent posted the pics of those yet. Jack's J is pretty cool.

Thanks Mart, I didnt know thats what that meant. I learn something new one the hamb everyday. Do you know if the original bearings had "Made in USA" on them?

Today I dropped the top and rear section of the cab of at the blasters today. I could have done it myself but it would have taken a month. Im tired of waiting I want to put the cab together. I will post the pics as soon as I get them back. Uncle Sam also sent me some money so I will be ordering some parts in the next day or so. More to come.

I ve had some time this past week so I have started repairing tach welds and areas of the cab that is cracked like an egg shell. As you can see I will also need to repair around the hinges to get the bolts out of the hinges. Re***embling this cab is going to take some patience.

As mentioned above I took the cab roof to the blaster. I forgot to take pictures of those when nice and clean and I already have put on a light coat of primer to prevent rust. As you can see in the next pictures the subrails are pretty busted up. I am lucky enogh that they pull back together fairly easy. I am just going to tach those till i get the doors fit to make sure I have no boo boo's. The pictures with the straight edge shows how far the left door jam is out but the right side is fairly close. I checked the doors and the door jams seem to be at a 90 degree angle so thats why I am trying to get the cowl and subrails to a 90 degree angle. Keep in mind I am open to criticism and concern to avoid costly mistakes. I will post up door photos tomorrow.
