Am loving this build Jimmy - inspirational! Am interested in how you set up rear suspension using original chev backing plates - any chance of some close up photos.

This is the article I was talking about. It looks like I will have to do two posts. The Forgotten Four. Have fun, Dave

    Great pictures.

For some HAMBers who don't know how to read this kind of photos here is how I did it on my computer with the software that came on it. An old Toshiba Satellite.

First I click on the photo to get it big.

Then I right click it to save it to my computer.

Then I go to the Pictures directory and double click on the picture.

This brings it up to full screen.

I then go down to the bottom and click on the rotate arrow.

I then go to the top and click on the fix and go the the right margin and click on the adjust exposure.

I usually only adjust the contrast to the right.

Then I go to the bottom and click the magnifing gl*** and adjust it untill the page is almost as wide as the screen.

This cuts off the top and bottom of the screen.

To move the picture up and down so that you can read the text right click on the screen and pull or push the screen up and down to expose the text and pictures you want to see.

I'm not trying to insult those who are computer savy, but I'm trying to help those who are slow learners like me. I've been in the software business since 1983 and still have a hard time learning new tricks.

I don't have a cell phone with a camera or texting.

I think there were a couple of errors in the article.

The article stated that the center main was 1 3/32" I think that should have been closer to 1 31/32". With a 1 3/32" center main failure would have been almost certain on every stock chevy 4.

The other thing that was stated in the article was that Rufi only used 4 head bolts and had head gasket problems. I think he used all 8 head bolts and still had head gasket problems. Model A Fords used 14 head bolts and even they sometimes had head gasket problems.

Nice work Jamie - why don't you make another guard like that one and sell it at that "other" website, tell them it was an optional 24 chev speedster guard;)or a DeLorian special guard :)

  13. Haha, yeah I should........ :D It shrunk...........

When the time comes I will roll a couple small front guards for the roadster.

Can I have body #2 with the optional blue paint?

Wow - you really know how dive in with both feet.

Seeing what you've done so far I'm sure you will have every success

  17. Blue paint is an extra 50¢ :D

There is no harm in trying, I am working on the buck for the left 1/4 I might make a set in Aluminium I will see. I am going to get sheet metal tomorrow & more plywood for the buck, I will keep you posted.

Thank you for posting this. I am starting on my '26 Chevy roadster and this will help a lot. http://picasaweb.google.com/sixpics/26ChevyRoadster?authkey=Gv1sRgCMGrn5aTjqyueQ&feat=directlink Some of the pics in the last few segments didn't load for me. I'll try them again. My 1/4s are like the second, more rusty set you got. Mine have just a little rust. My deck lid is much longer and goes from just behind the p***enger compartment and only has about a 6" high piece between the back of the 1/4s. I also have almost all of the wood to use for patterns. I too have spent a lot of time looking at photos of the same car that inspired you. There are a couple of guys near here that are into old Chevy 4s. I'm building a 153 Chevy II 4 cyl for my project. The newer route. What did you soak it in to remove the rust? Thanks Again! Tom

Thanks! Yeah, I was covered head to toe it has been raining for 3 weeks so I had to shape it in the shed, the **** is everywhere!

    Cheers

Tom, glad it will ***ist you with your build. I wish my 1/4s were as good as your 1/4 panels! It would have saved me a lot of work.
Please keep me posted on your build.

  30. I started a separate thread for the 1/4 panels for those that didn't see it. Made A New Roadster 1/4 Panel.

Getting the floors in, should be attaching the body panels permanently in the next week. Body can then be mated back to the ch***is.
