Jimmy, you are a beast!! The hotrods of the dry lakes era (and your thread of the same name) really are at the top of the foodchain. It just don't get no better than that. Enjoying the ride.

Life went crazy for a couple of years and was barreled & dumped like a wave in the surf.... As a result I've laid a little low....

I'm now in country vic, I sold (unfortunately) the RPU a couple of years ago (I do have a collection of bits to piece together another Banger) , the underslung project has become a 28 dodge coupe instead of the bucket... however has been pushed a little back, I'm collecting bits for a '40 pickup 8BA '39 juice brakes etc at the moment and trying to get sheds built. If ya ever down this way look us up!

Doesn't look like you have much to do before getting the banger going?

    Cheers

Hey Jimmy, have you tried taking some top leaves out of that spring? Without being there to bounce it up and down, it looks real stiff.

  8. Me too!

Good to hear you are still at it even after your rough patch, Sounds like you got a bit to keep you busy.

I have a lot of little things to do all the major parts are done, being unemployed at the moment makes money tight but I have a possible fabricator traineeship in the new year so fingers crossed.

G'day Tony, I have been thinking of removing 3 or 4 leaves as it is stiff I want to watch how many I remove as most of the leaves have had the ends scolloped. I need to remove three leaves out of the A rear spring as well, that will bring the back down 2".

Yeah plenty going on, however unemployed too, and a broken collar bone slows things down,

I'm hanging to see your jigger going! All the best with traineeship!

    Cheers

    Outstanding! Outstanding! Outstanding!

  19. I couldn't sell the roadster so I had a rethink on the direction of this roadster's build. Since I started building another roadster that will be closer to the original Spurgin/Giovanine roadster.

I decided this roadster will be a driver. So I ditched the Chev 4 for a Holden Starfire 4 and umm a ..... auto, I also swapped the rear end from a Datsun 720 ute. It was the best solution to my problem as I had it here doing nothing.

  20. good move, I know that there is a time and a place, and no2 will be sweet, however, glad to see 1.5 being embraced and given a new lease on life, despite the tyrekickers, that driveline will work well with your needs, and give that car a chance to breathe, and driven hard, using what you've got, so go for it.

    Cheers,

    Drewfus:)

Glad you got to keep it. What are you getting done? I'm making no progress on my '26 except getting the engine together and collecting a few more parts.

Jimmy, Any updates? How does that Holden $ compare to the 153 Chevys?

  27. Ok time for an update, sorry I ignored this for so long. After the River City Reliability Run I am all inspired & ****. I was fortunate to drive the run in HAMBer Chester Meredith's awesome T roadster it was an absolute blast.

The hot (34ºC) humid (95% humidity) weather didn't help with my Asthma and fuild build up in my lungs  but got a little done. For the past week I got over that **** and got some progress happening in the shed.
