My step brother just inherited his grandfathers estate and it is amazing. Years of old cars and trucks and tractors. His grandfather was the original inventor of the potato harvester. There is even a lot of his old harverster inventions out there. He has no idea what to do with everything, he gave me permission to take pictures and I told him I was going to share it and he was Ok with that, he doesn't do the internet thing. Just amazing, like a step back in time for sure.

    Caddy's Anyone?

This one was an original 1956 (I think) pink with gold emblems including a spelled out 1956 emblem on the dash.

A Plymouth Suburban, that's what the emblems say.

  4. I believe the Plymouth Suburban is a 51 or 52 model.

Dandy bunch of stuff.......after a point you do wonder what to
    do with it.

Well that's a great mess of stuff for sure, but my opinion is the money is in the cabover Freightliner and the Mack. Maybe the best plan is to just leave it all where it is!

Thanks guys, there's an old truck inside a shop that the roof caved in on, I think it's some type of English COE, it has a wood framed cab and there was a lot of interest in it years ago by some of the locals, kind of munched now. He just lives a little south of me so I can ask him years or what ever questions you may have. PM me with any questions.

The amazing thing about the Caddy's, his grandfather bought them all new. He was a huge guy near 7' and when he heard Caddy was going to start making a different body style with a lower roofline he went and bought a whole bunch of new Caddy's so he'd have spares. he used one to farm and one to go to town, honest to God he took the windows out of the farm car or caddy farm truck if you will and would actually stick sprinkler pipe through the back and front windows. The guy was in a world of his own and did exactly what he wanted to do. Met him several times and at times if he wasn't in the mood he would just act as if you weren't there and you might as well leave because he wasn't going to visit with ya other times he was as nice as could be.

Think it's rebuildable? My brother thinks it is out of a 39 Ford that his granfather totaled, no idea on miles but I'd bet its sat in the shop and all the dirt since the 40's?

Wow, look at those Cadillacs! Those need to be saved for sure. Really dig that Mack and Frieghtliner...that is really cool.

  26. Man, what happened to the shop? It looks like a tornado blew through there.

    Cool stash!

Lots of strong winds in that area Flat-N-Low plus heavy snow loads in the winter that don't do big old sheds any good.

It looks like none of the Caddies have engines so I wonder if the granddad didn't use those engines in some of his spud equipment. Several coupes in the bunch that would make some nice cruisers for a few guys.
It looks like he has plenty of room to clean out an area and move all of the cars and small trucks over in a row to where he can have in a better position to sell when he gets to that point. A lot of guys on here would make a trip to Eastern Idaho for one of those Caddie coupes in short order.

It may take a real effort to sort out what might be a historic spud machine and what is junk though. It would be a hell of a note to drag something off for s**** and have it be spud digger number one.

I guess there was a Chrysler from the mid 50's with a hemi and a guy from in town that knew it was there came out while my brother was gone and offered his grandmother $500 and she took it. My brother was not happy about that, he wanted the hemi.

Some of the stories, I remember going there to visit about 15-20 years ago and there was an early 60's caddy up on blocks in the shop, it still had the plastic on the back seat. I asked his grandfather what was the matter with it and he said that it had a leak in the ****** shortly after he bought it so he brought it in to fix and hadn't had time, he told me no one had ever sat on the back seat. It had so much dirt and dust on the outside you'd have never known it was like a new car, the inside was like new. Not sure if I sparked a bug in him but within a year or so he had it running and drove it up until a few years back before he p***ed, sits behind the house now, should have kept my mouth shut, might still be in the shop, however that shop did cave in from snow.

At the far end there was another Quonset shop attached and the roof collapsed so I'm sure it did create somewhat of a tornado. It is the oddest thing in there, it's like entering the twilight zone for sure. I thought the floor was dirt? He told me it's concrete, you can't see any concrete, he said there is a ba*****t under the shop, he showed me a few holes in the floor where you can get to the ba*****t. I was only there for an hour or so, I'm sure I missed a lot of intersting stuff, there was a Hemi Industrial pump motor but I understand they are different.
