  1. My story....... It was in 1952, I was 18. In the family's single car garage, I began to build my dream. A 1930 Ford roadster on a 32 frame, 41 Merc flathead with Wiend heads and Fenton two jug manifold. I thought it was the best car in the world. So many happy rides it gave me. I met many others I called my friends in grey primer, and I joined a respectable club, the Hayward Head Hunters, George Santos president. Too soon Uncle Sam grabbed me and sent me to Korea. After my tour of duty I returned to rebuild my roadster as a competition car. Vic Hubbard's built a new engine for me, a Dodge hemi, Potvin eliminator cam, vertex mag and now four 97's. But that's as far as got, marriage and children came along. I had to sell my roadster. As the years went by I found myself retired and widowed, missing that old jalopy and wishing I hadn't sold it. My friend Jerry Sezar suggested that I do it again. "No, I'm too old now." Jerry insisted, "you are NOT too old!"
    To my amazement I found a rolling project on Craigslist, the price was right and my son and I have had the best time shaping our personalities into this piece of American Iron. After three months hard work, I sat behind the wheel ready to take it out, engine cackling a sweet song and I got a rush of unexpected Dejavu. I've been here before. Looking over the chopped windshield at the wheels, hearing the rhythm of the open headers, feeling the horsepower under my foot. This must be heaven. My club plaque hasn't "flown" for a long time { I drew it out for the pattern maker in 1953 }
    Now it "flies" again............ I live my dream....... Ron Francis
