Any thoughts on the interior? All white tuck & roll with blue piping? Or white with baby blue tuck & roll inserts? Both options would have baby blue carpet.
Im not a huge fan of white, only becuase of the dirty factor. white shows alot. BUT....white with blue piping would look so cool for contrast to the blue exterior. blue carpet would contrast the interior also. i think no matter what color the interior is the dash should be white with some blue pinstiping. would really stand out. i love the way the dash looks in Chad's (ringo57) with the white and red striping. its your car. but i would go with white and blue piping.
Looks really sweet! I'm not exactly sure what your finish paint plans are for the upcoming winter, so I can't say exactly what I would do to the interior if it were mine. That being said, I think it would look nice with a little contrast- white with baby blue inserts and dark blue piping? Dark blue carpeting ? Not sure if you plan to add any accents to the exterior- dark blue firewall, tasteful dark blue pinstriping? Again, not sure what your final plans are, and I certainly don't hope to change your mind- just enjoying the build!
Just an idear... Uploaded with ImageShack.us Or a white firewall. I definitely think that some striping along the beltline would break it up- not necessarily the entire body line like in the pic- maybe a stripe above and below it. White dash with dark blue striped accents around the gauge clusters. Again, just throwing it out there, not trying to be a jerk.
I vote white firewall, dash, and accent stripe. I think the dark blue is too heavy for this car. just my $0.02
It's Thursday now! Titus has MONTHS to build the car to debut at BTTF's, and Stitchbitch gets half a day to do the interior?
I am in love!!!! This thing is so rad!!!!! I do like the White firewall photoshop though and don't think the steering wheel would look bad in white while you're at it if you should choose to go that way. Love it man!
Well, since we're on the topic of pinstriping . . . I walked into the shop last night to this . . . Allison came all the way from Spokane to lay some lines on Survivor.
It's may be a shame to cover up Allison's beautiful work someday when the body gets its final coating of shiny baby blue. Guess I'll just have to convince him to come out to stripe it again! The firewall will eventually be painted a bright glossy white, along with the dash, steering wheel and column. So the debate is still on for the interior. The top and running boards will be white tuck & roll with baby blue piping. Interior Option #1: All white tuck & roll with baby blue piping and baby blue carpet. Interior Option #2: Mostly white interior with baby blue tuck & roll inserts on the seats and panels. Baby blue carpet, white headliner. And of course another curveball was thrown in the mix by Jeff too (he's so good at that!): Black wheels. Mostly white interior with black tuck & roll inserts on the seats and panels. Black carpet, white headliner. The roadblock I have is that I've pictured it in my head all baby blue with the baby blue & white interior (option #2). Hard to shake an image that's been in your head for 23 years, but I think the other options are all valid ones. Thoughts?
The guy is an absolute artist. I gave no direction, yet somehow he nailed exactly what I had in my head. Can't wait to see what he does with the rest of the car. Right now the plan is to add a few lines to the cowl around the stock gas cap, the grille shell peak, fender tips, dash/glovebox door and possibly the headlights. All time permitting of course!
Another pic from last night -- I didn't take many as there simply just wasn't time to stop to shoot pics. There is more bolted to the engine now too.
I think all those options are great and can't go wrong with any of them. But I am a sucker for a black and white interior in a hot rod. Black seats with white T&R inserts and white piping, Black Carpet, White headliner with black bows, White steering wheel and black dash. Wheels black or white with trim rings and caps or full wheel covers. I think if you're going for full out show car circa 1961 then I would do the interior in all pearl white with horizontal pleats much like moriarity's corvette seats, black carpet, white steering wheel and chrome the dash!
Live update . . . Titus is sweating his ass off this morning making the last push to get her going while I chomp at the bit to get the damn work day over with! It's driving me bat shit crazy not bring there to help!
Did Allison shave lines in his head? That's dope!! It's like pinstripes for the scalp! Just kidding, I'm a huge fan of his and the work he's doing is super rad!!
My vote is for interior #2. You say it's what's been in your head for it all along, right? And Allison's lines are bad ass! If you squint you can see the Ford V8 emblem in them too...
