I rolled my 27 out yesterday to clean up the garage some, put a few more pieces on it and took a mental inventory of what needs to be done (lots).

The first thing I need to do is decide what engine I'm going to use, then build a new frame.

Probably would have worked on it more today if I wasn't affraid of the wind blowing it away!

too friggin cool, cant believet that is the same car. Where has it been? still looks the same.

Beemer on here has a tall T, only his a coupe, real low with a flatty.

I hope people with the excuse " that is all I could afford" will open there eyes and realize it is all in how bad do you want it? Just keep shopping and buy the RIGHT parts at the right price.
Just because some one buys a rebuildable flatty for 1200 bucks doesnt mean you cant buy one ready to go for a few hundred bucks.

Lets hear it for the flatty burnouts!

I got one from the Junk yard for $20.00 and made it fit.

Look in: Search - Tall Tom - General Discussion - Radiator

    My cheeeeeeeeeeeep radiator

It shows the car I got it out of and what I did to make it fit, includes pictures.

I thought 26-27 was the taller shell. Is 24 -27 the same shell?

Same shell, but some of the '26-'27 were nickeled. The high radiator and hood came along about midway through 1923.

Well, finally started to build my frame today. 2x4 with it tapered and pinched up front and drilled and sleeved holes. Flat x-member with the Ford I Beam hung with the spring attatched to the split A bones. '55 Chevy truck rearend (3.55 gear) hung from an A x-member with a kick-up and '40 Ford rear bones. Gonna be channeled 4" to hide the frame. This should put it at about 3" off the ground at the lowest point. NOw, time for some TV and a beer....I've earned it, today.

    Good job there Sir:D

Had those arguements with the resto crowd when I was looking for parts for my 1936 Model Y.

Hot rods usually start with the cars and bodies that the restoration guys don't want.

Mine was "gone too far" for a retoration since all the original floor had already been cut out and replaced (badly) before I got it.

    Still looks good to me.

See you at SOS for a cold beer:cool:

You bet!! I'll have my nwe 'cooler' built into the Shoebox trunk by then. Can't wait, Martyn.

  21. Here's my '27 with a modest 3 1/2 inch chop

That's chopped? I'll be damned. Lookes great. I'm still not gonna chop mine, though.

  23. That is the most common response. Since the '27 T is also channelled 4 inches, it looks more like a stock height Model A than a chopped T, which i think is kinda cool.
If it was not chopped, with the 4 inch channel, it would look out of proportion. (Top Heavy)

Big progress today. 3/4 of the frame is welded. Pinched, tapered. I'm really happy with this frame build. Tues I'll go get my rear x-member and build my back half. Then, the floor and body restoration. Damn, I'm motivated.

Kick is done, Kirk Hanning is making my front Xmember. Big cleanup on a freebie A rear Xmember. Slow progress but it's there. In the meantime, my wife and I have been taking turns driving the '51 Shoebox. Runs great but man is it ugly....

I love those T sedans...I would love to find a body myself. I also like the idea that your leaving it unchopped. dare to be different.
