That looks great Ed. I'm in the middle of building a heavy duty mail box as the snow plow and beer bottle throwers have beat the daylights out of mine.

Beautiful work, Ed. The post office should be ashamed to put junk mail in there.

That's the coolest mailbox I've seen and I've seen a lot of them as a mailman!

Although I thought about making a gas pump or Hot Rod mailbox for my new house, I opted to make this one out of a neat old granite rock I found. It is sure to total any car that decides to tangle with it. With 400 pounds of concrete (5 - 80 lb. bags of High Strength Quikrete) 2' deep and 10' of 1/2" rebar drilled 6" onto the rock and the curb, it ain't going anywhere. One of the college student neighbor girls that lives across the street crashed her Mustang when she nailed the neighbors stucco and stone mailbox last summer while she was texting, so this ones for her!

Clever and well done. I bet if there was a pre-64 mail box thread (or auto yard art, in general), they would come. Gary

  24. After getting My flamed mail box smashed in less than a year> I built this one out of my s**** pile.
The top is half of a 1/2 inch wall pipe. the bottom is 3 side of a 1/4 inch wall 8 inch square tube. the back is 1/4 inch plate. the door is .125 polished stainless. the mid section is a 1/4 inch plate also. the box is welded together with 2X2 1/4 inch angle the legs a 2X4 1/4 wall tube that goes 3 feet into the ground.
Been there 10 years without a scratch

Every time I put up a new mailbox, someone either runs it over, or steals it. I'm thinking I need to put out a traditional 'patina'd' POS next time. lol.

I made a mailbox post out of Model A wheels that is very similar to that about 30 years ago. I went by the old house a few weeks ago and the house looks like s**t but the mailbox post is still standing!!
