    :(

The roadster was going to be at the Grand National Roadster Show in Pomona California this weekend. I loaded the 32 up in the trailer and left Friday for California going Interstate 40. Saturday a little after 1 o'clock ... just outside Memphis Tn.
A fellow changed lanes ... into my lane and run me off the Interstate ...

The truck and enclosed trailer jack knifed and after hitting the guard rail with the tail of the trailer ... turned 180 degrees backwards and slid down into the median.

Both the tires and rims on the right side were destroyed and the roadster broke loose inside the trailer.

So after 6 hours on the Interstate getting the tires replaced ( I had 2 spares ) and getting a wrecker to get the box up on level pavement ... the wife and I just towed the 600 miles back home ...

I was really looking forward to seeing all the 75th anniversary 32 Fords ... BUT ... I am very thankful that my wife and I were not killed.

The truck can be fixed ... the trailer fixed/replaced and I have a few extra 32 Fenders ... so in the end ... all's well when you can drive back home ...
    :D :D

Yeah man, glad to hear you made it back in one piece. Would have really ****ed if you would have been ALL the way on the left coast when it happened.
I drove a Dodge Dsl dually with 25ft trailer all over the U.S. and Canada for Skip Barber racing, back in 2001 and 2. Met with some close calls, but other than a broken axle in Gainsville and a few flats, had a safe, 35,000 miles a year, journey.
Sorry to hear about the deuce, but material things can always be replaced. Remember that girl that flipped her T-Bucket last year?
    Be well, JT

Bummer! At least you guys are okay. There was a guy at the LA Roadster show, who got rearended in his '32 Roadster. F'd it up pretty bad. Maybe you can get it fixed by the LARS this year. Supposed to be a huge '32 thing planned for it.

Sounds like you know this .......but when the dust settles, old cars are just pieces of iron, rubber, gl*** etc. More importantly you and your wife are OK. What a terrible thing to have happen.

  21. In the end everything else can be fixed. You and your wife are much harder to repair.

Looks like you were within a few miles of the TN River.

I hate to see/hear this. I know you were looking forward to the trip. Sure glad you're OK though. Lord knows there's more to life that hot rods & car shows.

Sounds like you're back home & OK but if there's anything I can do to help, let me know.

Glad to hear you are OK. Look at the bright side....now you have an excuse to run the roadster fenderless for a while.

when stuff like that happens you can only react cause there's no time to think i'd say you did a hell of a job keepin the tires on the ground and you and your wife uninjured. get it fixed and come to detroit for autorama or wait till august and come to detroit a week before the woodard cruise, there is some big deal planed a the ford gl*** house in dearborn mi.some deal about the 32 ford 75th anniversary and stick around for the cruise. good luck

Looks like you deserve condolences and congratulations. I understand your frustration (been there myself), but the key point is that y'all got to drive yourselves home. Hope you get it back on the road soon.
