2017 Trog was another amzingling good time, got to meet a few more hambers and new freinds, and talk with a bunch of old freinds. I threw my 32 roadster together for trog in a short few months, it was a thrash but well worth it, heres the build thread: https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/the-wenatchee-roadster-32-ford-trog-bound.1052469/ I ran 12 races over the weekend, the car ran super well for a junkyard unknown motor that had been sitting for many years, i had put a pair of Roof heads and elelbrock intake on it, i do say that these pieces deffinately added some power to this thing. wont alot of my races but really didnt care. My last race was against @Elrod in the ? coupe, I was revving up for the flag drop and the motor dropped a cylinder, off i went anyways cause why the hell not, for running on 7 cylinders it still held its own well but he took my in the end, hes lucky i only had 7 cylinders heres a vid of the race i could here some metal clacking so i was thinking i bent a valve or broke a valve spring, i also didnt want to damage my Roof head anymore thatn i had already so i popped the head off in the pits, everything looked normal but when i turned the motor over this is what we saw: pretty funny, and lucky it didnt turn sidways and kill the block and head, i took a screwdriver and was able to pull the top half of the piston out of the hole so i popped the head back on and tightened it down and put some water back in it and left the plug wire off and drove it back to the house we rented for the weekend and loaded her up. i got home and started the search for a piston, i talked to a few buddies and another .040 piston was turned up, so this morning i dug into here the rods were all stamped so the motor had been gone thru at one time, it was in over all good shape, i honed out the cylinder, there was a tiny little mark and that was it, lucky again i say! so here she is back running again im super lucky it went back together this easily, and runs exactly as it did before inflicted the damage! Heres a great shot of me and Joey Lockwood racing, hes a great dude! till next year!
Jeff...some days you're good and some days you're lucky. Glad you didn't hurt anything. If it'd been me, the rod would have killed the block when the lower half turned sideways. I think we need a TROG midwest where we race in a corn field.
Your an animal ***us! A true American work horse. It was great meeting you, next year we'll have a few cold ones and hang out a bit.
That Nitro stuff does funny things to motors........ Indeed it looks like you were lucky! If it had of been mine, it would have spit the rod out the side of the block, then the other 7 would have tried to change holes!
