Wacko the triangular flanges I have laser cut, the others I cut with a plasma cutter or with a thin cutting disc in a hand held grinder. Thanks
Weather great again today so more fitting up, It amazing how a bit of nice weather lets you get so much done. First job was to get the cage back in the car, I knew I had to cut holes for the rear legs and they had to be big as they have a stub with a flange on them. A hole was cut and the legs put through and loosly bolted in, then some cover plates were made up to cover the holes, they will be sealed when i get some more sealer, rear bulkhead has to be sealed for regs. While I was there I decided to bond in some ply around the rear windows for the trimmer to attach the headliner too, This will have a full interior like a g***er should have. Unfortunately I ran out of ply to do the other side , its bonded in with fibregl*** paste Cage all back in and bolted up. .
Thanks, I just wish it would come together a bit quicker..... . Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
Steve, Thanks for the info! I knew what size tires you had from the forum I started on the Pie Crust slicks but I didn't know what size wheel. I LOVE THAT LOOK & that's what I want on the Henry J! Thanks for the Help!
Cheers Wayne, I will give you a buzz tomorrow to catch up..... . Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
Hope you beat the cold mate, we are trying to do as much as possible while spending as little as possible, saving to go to GNRS and Sacramento next year.
I think winter arrived this morning Chris, it's absolutely ******* down here, really windy and getting colder too, I bet it's lovely down under..... . Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
I'm lucky mate as my mate is the chromer plus i do most of the polishing which is where the cost is, the actual chrome, copper & nickel isn't that expensive really. Thanks for commenting.
Hey Chris I didn't see the pic originally, it's coming on great mate, look forward to seeing it abused..... ... Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
great project! great progress!! funny how you talk about the weather a lot and working.I'm from Coventry originally and remember the ****e weather not so fondly. Now in Denver and 300/360 days of sunshine!Think how much more progress you could get done in a shorter amount of time! subscribed to your build and keep up the great work.
Well we had some terrible rain here on monday, we had a months rainfall in 24hrs I have a California car cover on it now and it fits great but most importantly it don't let one drop of rain through, great product. Luckily it stopped at teatime so I managed to get a couple of hours in last night after the rain stopped, mostly bits and pieces but i did get my battery cables all terminated and screwed down to the trunk floor with Adel clamps. I ran the main battery cable along the ch***is mounted in Adel clamps while the body was off, it runs along the main p***enger ch***is rail and ends at the rear axle where it needs to enter the body, the floor here is 1/4" thick so no grommets available so I used a bulkhead connector, very handy. The connector is under the battery tray out of harms way. battery cable is 35mm2. While I was crimping the eye lugs on I thought i would show you what a great little tool the Speedway crimping tool is. I used to use a set of tong type crimpers which were very expensive and very good but unfortunately someone borrowed them and never bought them back. This simple tool is equally as good. Heres a short video clip Also got the fuel tank back in place and the fuel lines hooked up. Another little job that was annoying me was the little cables on the hood & trunk pins keep going rusty and I didn't like the way they were secured under the small hold down bolts, solution was to use stainless steel bicycle cable and to drill small holes and hold the cables fro the rear, looks neater I think, sorry about the dust on them. .
Just picked up my freshly repaired computer from the local sons of electronic science, and one of the first things i see after being more than a week offline (scary, huh?) is that even your rollcage is a piece of art! sooo well done! Cheers, Steve!
Boy that chrome roll bar looks fantastic...........very cl***y. I have the same crimper that you smash with a hammer and used it for years in my boat building days, then we got the bolt cutter style crimper and use that mostly now. For just the reason you cited I don't loan tools out, they either don't come back or come back broken. You hate to be that way, but tools cost a lot of money and are hard to replace. Don
I agree plumbid. Everyone that walked through my shop today got to see Langy's video. Everyone agreed.... that video needs to come with the crimper from speedway! His accent is one we all understand. Perfect instructions. Couldn't help myself. I had to order one!
I'm the same way Don, no tools leave the shop these days, my mates can still use my stuff but now they have to come to my shop. Thanks for the thumbs up........ ... Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
Hahahaha, I got Sue to shoot that little video quickly, got it in 1 take, I thought you American guys would laugh at my accent, I added the hammer comment by accident lol...................... Maybe I could get a presenters job on TV ?????? ............................. Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
Yes mate, don't want to rub it in, but it's been warming up nicely, not that it gets cold here anyway. Winter this year was a tuesday I think.
