I've seen photos of this car before and wonder if anyone knows anything about it .....

    HAMB-003.jpg

I grew up in Redondo Beach but I was only a kid when this photo was taken somewhere around 1946-1948. On the side is:

    H & H
    Custom Motors
    Redondo Beach

Anyone have any info about it? I've seen photos of another car that looks something like this one, or maybe it's the same car. I think the other one was referred to as a famous dry lakes race car.

Looks like the golden sub rebuilt for the lake beds??

And I believe H & H are still in business? Someone correct me?

  4. That's the Schenk streamliner- had a Chevrolet 4 for power.

I believe there is a company called H & H Flatheads and a quick Google search found a link to their Flatheads Forever website. I doubt that this would be the same company since it says they started rebuilding engines in 1972.

    Gerg,

Thanks for the links. I now know for sure that it's not the Golden Sub.

There is a restoration or clone underway there was a HAMB feature within the past year. That is the first color photo I've seen of the car before the scallop/flame paint job. The original body was left in a vacant lot and kids used to play in it so the story goes. :(
