it's NOT a Porsche for crying out loud. It's a full-sized car - you can tell by the scale of the house and carport. I first was thinking Panhard or a derivative thereof, but could find nothing. Certainly could be a heavily customized Packard (like "Doc" Brown's in the BttF movies). Something about the trunk is trying to give me a hint, but it's just not jumping out. It is not a factory production US car, and it has to be from between 1947 and 1952, although some Euro cars continued with the Terrapin/Tortoise look into the mid-50s. I'll keep wracking my brain. dj
I am emailing this to my friend of many years. He has more odd ball car books than you can imagine. I have a book that might have a picture of one of these in it. I am thinking a Curtis car of some sort. On another note, I went into a Nissan dealer and there was a completely restored BMW ISETTA! Got some good pics of that thing.
I am pretty confident it is either a retouched photo or an artist's rendering to evoke the general appearance of a luxury car of the era in which this article appeared. that is quite common, even today, in various ads I have seen (and you probably have too). In those cases it is common to see styling touches from contemporary vehicles yet the composite isn't any of them. Ray
