Save them for me and I will MAKE SURE to come see you! I just think it would be great to put somethings together with parts from you and Bill. I have an old T-buck frame from thew 50s that needs a body.

Jim, as you know, I won that auction. What you have posted here makes me out to be some ebay sniper who pulled the rug out from everbody. That is not at all how that auction went down. I placed my bid a full 4 days before the auction closed, and there were no bids placed after mine. My bid also happened to reach the reserve, which was a very fair price for such a well built car, and pretty much as high as I could afford. Anyone who wanted to had 4 full days to out bid me. Several of the bidders let George know that they thought that he had entered a bogus bid to drive up the auction price. About 75 people watched that auction close, and still no one placed a bid after mine.

All those who lost did so either because they were not willing to step up and pay the man's price, or they figured that George was pulling a fast one, and were waiting for it to blow up in his face so they could low ball him at the Goodguys Del Mar show the following week.

I'm sorry for the rant, folks, but I've been hearing this version of events for 6 years now and I'm tired of holding my peice.

Sorry if that's what went down. I remembered it being a last second deal- that's all. We were planning on going down to Del Mar and making a deal with George if the ebay deal didn't go. Seems like it wasn't the first time it was on ebay. I was deeply attached to that car but didn't have 2 nickles to rub together as usual, but was looking forward to my dad adding it to his collection and then adding some of the elements Joe Barnett built the car with.
No matter what I wasn't saying you were a bad guy at all- just sad it didn't work out as I hoped. The price George was willing to sell the car to me before I wrote the Rodder's Journal story and he got the car running was considerably less than what he wanted after. Felt like I shot myself in the foot. Glad it is still known as Joe & George's old car.

Hey ya Jim, no sweat. I just wanted to set the record straight. Quite afew folks here know I am the caretaker of Joe's old car, and I don't want people thinking I'm some sort of low budget, ****-heel version of Bruce Meyer running around snaking cars from people. As long as it is in my hands, that little machine will always be known as Joe and George's old car. I'm just a lucky goon who gets to hold on to it for a while.

    Later, Mike

P.S. George, your little T project is plain *****in'.

    mike and jim,
    Mystery car #2
Attached is a pic/info that relates to this reply. The firewall in Joe Barnetts touring was the smoothest most well built, beautifull piece of art I have seen in a car. It was the best part of the t. Unfortunitly that did not matter at the time. It was molded in steel around the chevy engine with a molded in trap door that slid up and down in runners in order to adjust the points.IT WAS ART.Based on this post I started thinking where was that firewall, if you were going to put a chevy back in you should see that firewall as I bet you never knew how that looked as I have not seen it in any pictures with detail. When I was in the LA Roadsters I removed the firewall and sold it or gave it to Ray Milazzo also in the club who was building the t touring in the attachment. The t was purple and I think I remember Magoo helped Ray build it.
So any way don't know if he still has it or where it is but you should search to find it.
Remember though that what is in it also is a little history as Dan Woods helped do the current engine install.
    Good luck!
    George

When I asked Ray Millazo about the firewall he had no idea what I was talking about. That and the original wood dash with Corvette gauges are most likely lost forever.

    Jim,

I know that is who got the firewall but you know what they say "memory is the first thing to go". Maybe he p***ed it on and forgot? but i would still look for that touring?

    Mark and Mike ect.:

I totally forgot about this progress pic post.
Yes to Surf Angel as Rod and Custom magazine(Aaron,Rob,Tim) have given me the mental energy to get back to it as it is so close.
Been having some stuff chromed to not forget it's there.
I already got the purple angora fir carpet ready!!!!!!!! (to match the T)
Got sidetracked again on a corvette but that is basically done.
Got another old trike but will not get sidetracked on it, no way!

    Thanks guys!
