Come on Man. What's up? Looks like the fabled big bore block to me. Do the head bolts go all the way to the bottom? Did you get a test unit? You're the man to prove how good they really are.
No way! All they are doing is answering questions on a website and have no intentions of ever selling and blocks. I am sure this is a fine Photoshop by an expert put out there to get us all excited. All I can picture is a real stripped down modified that goes like a ****d ape..... regards, DJ
Come on guys, it IS a fake! Like Smokin Joe said, there's no layer of gunk (inside AND out). It ain't nothin like the real thing...................................which certainly ain't all bad Wish I could afford one...................... Tim D.
The valve guides look to be intergarlly cast into the block? been trying to work out how that would work? look like K-lines in it?? center mains area sure looks beefy, no more web!
K lined bronze guides mate....wonder what the stem sizes are? **** theres some negative guys on here. I for one would LOVE to have one of these tipped with a set of Arduns and a nice lung sitting on top. One can but dream......ahhhh Seriously, wtf is happening with this prototype deal? Anyone know the scoop? Rat
Larry, You put your foot in your mouth this time. This guy is the real deal. He's earned my respect. Listen and learn.
If I had to guess I would bet it is a Motorcity block. I know it's not Flathead Jacks cause his is not out yet. The first one will be cast in the next two weeks. Looking at the pic it looks to strange to be an old block, Sooo it must be a MCF unit. me thinks.--TV
Ok, so if you told us you'd have to kill us. Can't you just give us some clues and rough us up a bit? It's very interesting whatever it is. Mart.
If you all go back to issue 18 of TRJ you see all about it. Henry Ford was trying to make alloy aircraft engines but there was some problems with the production process and they were dropped. It was limited by the technology of the day. They made about ten of them. Then some guy named Ray Schlachter got hold of 1 and fixed it up.Anyway read all about it,the Granatelli Bros had some for sale apparently and who knows where they ended up. Keep on roddin'.
After looking at the pics. With everything that shows (MCF relief, small dia. valve guides, 4 bolt center main, 'D' shaped intake ports, etc.,etc.) looks like a MCF/Shadow Rods flathead.
That's an MCF block. I think one of the single biggest enhancements are those cast in valve guide bosses. On the factory blocks the removeable guides were there to ease m*** production ***embly but at a compromise to port shape. With this MCF block you have a situation where you have the ability to shape the port exactly the way you want. I figger the breathing will support the 340 cubes. Couple that with the mushroom tappets with a great big footprint to follow more radical cam profiles.
I'll go with the m***es and say MCF origin. Quite cool to look at and sure has the attention of the flatfolks on the HAMB. I'd also like to read on and learn more but my personal budget gonna keep me 8BA bound.
Looks like the beginnings of a 250 horse 20,ooo dollar motor to me. And like everyone else here I wish I could afford it. Shane T.
Does it matter if you could afford it or not? They aren't selling any in spite of the fact I've been reading about them for years. I've had enough of the hype about new flathead blocks that aren't for sale. Those French flatties didn't sell all that well so I doubt any new ones will sell well. Sure, I'd like to have a nice big cube aluminum flathead motor in a nice light car, I just don't ever see it happening. regards, DJ
**** I'd have weld up the valve seats to fit my Ardun Heads Thank God Donny has already made an alloy block without all that valve stuff
