Technical mystery gm idler arm

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by alteredpilot, Dec 10, 2024.

  1. So I got this 54 chevy pickup. The guy who put it together said the front clip is an '81 Camaro. I took numbers off of the steering box, spindles, calipers, brake pads and whatever I could find receipts for and it all points to 2nd gen Camaro. The idler arm that is on the vehicle is not the same length as the pitman arm, nor does it visually match what is in the catalog. The new 'correct' catalog part number doesn't match the mounting on the frame. These numbers don't cross to anything and nothing turns up in a google search.
I've been researching all day. maybe one of you can lend a hand. Here are some glamour shots of the defective part.

The idler might be GM A/G body 78-86?
