I was working for Speedy Bill at the time and was coordinating the construction of Swamp Rat 33 Streamliner being built in Lincoln. I worked on $ Bill for 4 months to put it the 'liner, but he wouldn't even consider it. We used a truck load of flathead and Ardun motors owned by Dave Thomssen, also from Lincoln We then went out and ran just a tick faster then the C-T motor @ 231 and change. That record in still in the books. In one year we set 4 records over 200 and put 2 drivers in the 2 Club. Dave is still running most of those motors in his "Hayseed" '27 Street Roadster and qualified this year @ 160+, but couldn't back it up on the return run. Missed the record by less than .2 mph.
BMW copied the design from Delage These are BMW heads And this is a BMW Slave labor's badge They gave people the same kind of series serial number as their cars.
I knew that you would have the facts, my memories are from reading motor magazines, and after 67 years it isn't so good. Your posts are inspiring and usually with amazing photos. Thanks.
Mucho kool engine! There's sure a lot of time and effort gone into it's design and construction. Clever, beautiful and fast!
He lives in a secret place west of here. With all the stuff too heavy to move. Me and Mrs B live in Poland I got family all over
there's a full cutaway of the streamliner in hop up dec 52. and in the same issue it notes that this 'liner went 187 on a merc motor that was converted to a v-6
I fell in love with the Adams Moller flattie many years ago. I have been trying to find some dimension info on it so I can master as set for 1/8th and 1/25th scale models. I posted asking about it a few years ago but got no answer. I have also tried Speedy Bill museum by e-mail about 20 times and sent letters but no reply. If anyone can get me measurements of that monster I would forever be in your debt! Cheers, Doc.
