Technical Mystery Wheels

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 283john, Jul 1, 2014.

  1. I've had these wheels for a while. Found them in a barn. They have no markings and are 15x7". The center and front rim "facia" seem to be aluminum while the entire rim (bead-to-bead) is steel. 100_1297.JPG

Any idea what brand they are? I was going to take them to a swap meet and ask $100 bucks for the pair. Is that out of line? Thanks for looking.

  2. There were a number of company's making wheels like that. Ansen comes to mind for me. Figure out the bolt pattern, looks like 4 1/2". Good luck. Shouldn't be hard to sell. Tim

  3. Can't go wrong with a 5 spoke mag. What's the bolt pattern?

  4. I have a pair of 14x7 just like those, mine have a M/T cast on the backside of one of the spokes, so I think there Micky Thompson.

Back in the late 60's, I had a set of ET unilug wheels built the same way.

I don't know the brand but they are similar to mine with their steel and aluminum construction. I preferred the all aluminum wheels but finding 15 X 6s is what I wanted. I don't spend stupid money for old wheels.

I beleive the "digger" wheel was one step up from the 2 piece style. Good looking wheel ,but about twice the weight of a true mag American.

  14. A buddy had a set very similar to those in 5 on 5" pattern for Chevy trucks....they were ET's!
