Keep on going, I'm struggling for time on mine also. At least you post pics, finding time between work, family and then what ever is left for the car is a real struggle.

Damn, thats pretty good work for a first timer. I hate sheetmetal work as well, but i gotta build myself an english wheel as it helps so much.

Really good turn around. That car was a real piece of shit, I would have ran from it. Good to see it saved.

The internet is full of experts. I listen to the quiet ones, and ignore the loud ones.

PS, you should have been on this board 10 years ago. This is the kinder, gentler HAMB.

Im watching this thread, cant wait to see the botch job straightened out.

I'm interested to see how you style it.

I am building a 51 coupe myself, more true to the mid 50's with no fancy or weird parts.

Trust me I had measured everything even had a profile board made but it was only out a tad and I put it down to 1 side was done with English Wheel the other with hammer and dolly. Measured from floor to roof all measure equal. But nope the window frame that I braced like a mother fucker was Already out of whack and then I put it back in. It waa driving me nuts because i could see it was not right but couldnt get a point of measurement. Anyway was 3 degrees out and now it's not. But that little digital angle thingy has now plotted all over the car and it's all equal. yup I'm a dipshit but it's ok next time I will definitely use it before welding a thing.

Forgot to add it prob won't suit the taste of most Merc chop owners but I'm not sure of the official sounding hotrod name of it but I have slanted the back window heaps so the line follows through to the trunk lid line. I know it's not standard but I hate the Dickie original lip that stays under the window.

I'm so hearing you!!!!!! Get a good flat edge long metal rule and just place the digital gauge on that. I plotted a heap of points around the roof line, roof to body, roof to boot, roof to floor and body sills to concrete...... That showed me enough of where the twist was and how many degrees it was out. Obviously you can do diagonal marks across body but I was pretty happy with why I had done.
