just moved to the sac area and am looking for someone to show me the way and to make some new friends. i've got a 50 shoebox that's been chopped, shaved and lowered...but not running! i'd love to have it ready for the primer nats but i think next paso is more realistic. i don't have a welder, compressor, trailer, cherry picker and don't have the money for a big time rod shop, but i'd be nice meet someone that teach me to paint and do some motor work.
Well, you came to the right place to learn. I can't speak for any of the Sac area guys, but the HAMB has alot of knowledge, and alot of people willing to share it. Just read, search the tech archives and ask questions as they come up. Welcome.
not that i live anywhere close to you, but what the hell eh... have a 50 ford myself. are you still planning on running the flathead?? lots of good info on here....but in the meantime, tell us a little more about yourself..who ya are, what ya do, have any pics of the shoebox?? this place is full of ball-busters, the better the intro, the less ya get trashed. did i mention that we like pictures ??
cool, it seemed like the right place to start (this and fordbarn). we chopped the roof 5" in the front and 7" in the rear, slanted the pilars and laid the rear glass down. drip rails, door handles, deck lid and hood all shaved. cut springs in the front and air bags in the rear. tunneled floor for the drive line. i'd have loved to run the flatty in it but it had a toasted 6 in back seat when i got it. along came a buddy w/350/400 runner for free and in we sat it. the pix i have it is on my cell phone sorry.
Sounds like you got a good start on the Shoebox, and you didn't do bad by comming here. If I recall there are several HAMBers in your area. Stay around and get acquainted. Between what you can glean here, and the friends you will probably make you'll do fine. Welcome, The PknBner Oh, did I mention that we're a bunch of Hoodlums(Ryan)
what's ur situation? what kinda project have u got started? i did learn to weld on my shoebox (it was the first time i picked up a sawzall too), i can sling some mud and turn a wrench if want email me w/a ph number and we maybe we can help eachother out. i live near folsom.

Hey. Sorry haven't been around much lately. There are a bunch of Sacramento Area HAMBers around. Just looks like we all missed your post. You should come down to the Red Robin in Folsom on Wednesday nights. The Poor Boys frequent it and a few other HAMB folks as well. I live in Folsom and will try and get down there tonight. Look for my 23' Dodge roadster primer red. While I'm not the mechanical genius you find here on these pages, I got a few tools and I'm in your area. Cheers, Tim
