Thanks for bringing this back to the top guys.
Jimmy Lynch is a name I remember from my Dad's stories of back in the day.
I may have even met him when I was a kid.
Thanks again for all the help.

Check out the other HAMB post on this topic under; "east coast club history"
My Uncle Rich was a member of Thundering Turtles of Dumont in the late 50's and 1960's. He now lives in Florida.
Here are a couple pictures of Jimmy Lynch car. You can see the Thundering turtles logo.

My father is Mike Hyde from Tenafly, NJ. He was a member of the Thundering Turtles in the mid to late 50's. I just called him and he still has his original jacket and plaque. Growing up we use to watch the old films of the car club racing until they had a reunion in the 80's. He gave the old films to a member (he can't remember who) that took them, editted them, and then sent out VHS tapes.

I asked my father to take pictures of his jacket and plaque and email them to me. I'll post them on here when I recieve them. By the way, this isn't Brett C. is it?

Hey Brett, this thread has turned out so very cool, this is awesome.

I still can't get over that your father was turnin 70 when you first posted...he could run circles around most guys 30 years younger!

You should talk to Dennis about possibly using that plaque to make you one. It's never too late to put a smile on the old mans face!

  9. Did you ever get the picture of the plaque? I'd love to see it.

This is a GREAT thread. Very parallel to what was happening in San Jose (CA) in '53-'57.

Car clubs that went to the drags. And RAN CARS.

This is a great thread. I live in Englewood and am from Tenafly, I'd LOVE to find an original club plaque from this area.... was on O'Brien's site just the other day looking at em actually.

    The search is over!
Dad was visiting with Stephen's Father while in Florida and he pulled out his old plaque! Kind of killed the surprise I was hoping for :( but at least we found one.:)
Pics and photocopy's have been sent to Dennis O'Brien to have some made up.
HUGE THANKS to all who helped in the search!
