Friday was the B.H.R.A. memorial race in honor of Bill Hilscher (sp?). Lots of fuel altereds, a couple top fuel funny cars, 3 jet cars amongst other things. Got to stand beihind the tree as the "Mr. Bardahl" vette went up against the "Sumpin' else 2" '64 nova funny car... that thing is cool. Lost of smoke, fire & squirrely passes, I had a great time!
Is that the track in Denton/Sanger? I went buy there and could smell the Nitro, but the train was blocking the view. I need to make it up there one of these evenings. The wife has never been to a drag race.
I didnt make it out there Friday, but have been before and it is definately a good time. If for nothing else, than just to get out of Dallas for a couple of hours.
Remember seeing Bill Hielscher's "Mr. Bardahl" Vette run in the late 60's at an AHRA meet at Chandler Raceway Park in S. Indiana. Was undoubtedly the fastest single four barrel car I'd seen at that time. Not many pics of the Vette to be found, except this one from "Two Lane Blacktop" where it's on the trailer in the background.
