Just wanted to check in and introduce myself. I was into muscle cars in high school a bit over 20 years ago, but now that I've grown up and can afford a couple toys I'm getting into real hot rods. I've been playing with jeeps for a while (real jeeps, not these new things that you can just bolt-on performance), but just picked up a good start in a 1950 fordor deluxe.

The shoebox will be a mild rod, lowered a bit with some motor hop ups (it's got a newly rebuilt 8ba flatty, built to stock) and has a pretty straight body to start with. The floor pan and body mounts are rusted out, but other than that it's a good start. I'll be converting it to 12v and throwing in a t-5, and maybe lakes pipes, but other than that it'll stay pretty stock.

I'm always on the lookout for another project, I'm thinking an early 30s roadster pickup for a rat rod project should do the trick. I've got 19 month old twin boys, and I'm really hoping to get some good projects for them to cut their teeth on. There's nothing they love better than sitting in the driver's seat and sticking the keys in the ignition!

Looking forward to some great advice, stories and hot rods on this forum.

    The first project:

Thanks, I'm actually out in Eldorado, just outside Santa Fe. I don't always like to admit it though ;)

    Any good clubs in town?

That is if all the Texans don't come get it all ;) Just kidding. I've been amazed at some of the vehicles I've seen here, and "no rust" really means no rust!

The club scene is scarce lately. Evangleno's downtown is cool to hang out at. There's also Rocky's on Cerrillos. Other than that not much. Albuquerque's loaded with cool places. Have you been here long?

I've been here about five years, too busy working and settling in to get involved with anything. I was thinking more along the lines of car clubs, my night club days are behind me!

Oh I see! There's a couple here in town. One's called Vintage Cars something or another and I can't remember the name of the the other. Those are the clubs the throw the cruise nights on the plaza shows. Been to any? Where did you move here from? I moved here in 03 from Las Vegas, Nevada.

I'm from Washington State, the countryside about 50 miles from Seattle. Moved here to be near my wife's family, can't leave now that my work has taken off.

I've been to a cruise night at the plaza, they get some nice cars there, a real mix. We have a smaller show out here in Eldorada, but it was rained out this year.

Cool. When do you all have your show. I'd like to check that out. What kind of work do you do?
