chopolds, thanks for your advice. Everywhere you look the rule of thumb is to go no co****r than 1500, but all it does is flatten the surface sheen and it glides right over the orange peel.
It's almost impossible to tell how close you are to cutting through the clear.
I'm gonna try the 600 grit and go to finer paper in steps.
    My arms are killing me.
To be honest most folks would consider the finish to be perfect, but I'm not happy.
Old fashioned lacquer was so easy to work with.

BTW, chopolds you're the reason the car's in green pearl, it was going to be violet but you suggested a contrasting color.....it's all your fault.

I'll gladly take the blame...the car looks great. You would have been sorely disappointed if you did it in violet, more work, no difference!
Juast go easy at this point with the 600. It doesn't take much. You'll see the shiny spots again as you color sand. They'll disappear quickly.

I hate to say it, but that's exactly what I thought too. Like you said, wait til it's done, THEN we'll make a judgement on what it looks like :)

The thing i've noticed about the color-change paint is that it turns a ****ty brown between going from purple to green. This color doesn't.. Also, whole panels change color... where that car is most definitely purple, but with green highlights. I think it looks a hell of a lot better than the color change ****... It's a one of a kinda color, I think once it has trim on it, it's going to be a jaw dropper, no one is going to mistake it for a modern paint.

Hey Nads - the car's looking great, bet it's nice to see all that hard work paying off.
