I am building a 401 Nailhead, an old Offy bellhousing and a T-10 4 speed behind it. I am getting ready to build the 401 and need to know about pilot bushings. This was a TH 400 originally. Do I have to have one custom machined? Machine the crank? Anybody know?
Uh-oh, before the "Intro Swat Team" decends on you and gives you a ration of crap for not posting an intro, I'll answer you. I got the pilot bushing for my 401 (also has a ST-10) through Cars, Inc. in New Jersey, their p/n PB-570 $6.00 + shipping. As I recall though, I later found out that the pilot bushing was a stock GM size and available locally. Can't find my notes right now.....maybe somebody else can confirm that for you. In any event, no, you don't have to machine the crank. Here's a couple of Buick vendor sites for your listening & cranking pleasure........ www.buick-parts.com www.buickfarm.com www.classicbuicks.com Now, how about a polite introduction? Tell us a little about yourself and your ride. Pics would also help ease your way into the fold.
yeah, what he said... now post an intro and tell us what yer buildin. i LOVE Nailheads. i'm putting a Tremec 6 speed behind my 401
The man you need to talk to is: Carmen Faso 716.693.4090 - J&C's Parts 7127 Ward Road North Tonawanda, NY 14120 He has everything you need to get that straightened out. Nice guy, decent prices, loads of info...
Thanks guys, I did post an intro with a pic of my panel. sounds like the bushing won't be a problem, but I can sure use contacts for info as I get ready to do the build and get this thing running. I will get a pic of the coupe on here too.
