Nailhead eccentric?

Have a 65 Riv with fressh 401 nailhead. was going to run an electric fuel pump on it because of worn eccentric. Now im thinking bout putting new mech fuel pump on it and running it til im ready to wire up the pump. My question is what is a reasonable amount of wear to still be comfortable running the mech pump. And is an autozone pump ok to get me by for the next 6 mos. Car isnt a daily driver just want it to get me til winter.
