So Ive been working away a few hours a day shoe horning the nailhead into my roadster here are some pics of where Im at so far. Also while Im posting anyone have any pics of their motor mounts into an A-style frame?
Man, I love nailheads!!! Here's one of my favorite builds. Nailhead into '32 rails, but the same type mounts could be made for an A frame. Clean, simple, and plenty strong. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=104922&highlight=rolf
I can't think of a better motor.........................check this post, http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=330306&highlight=nailhead+picture+post Here's a pic of one I made ..............
This is what I crafted up for front mounts. Buiscuit is early Ford V8, Frame mount is hammer formed 3/16" steel. ****** mount are off centre cross member, Not removable due to change in engine choice change from SBC, rear suspensions pivots off other side of crossmember. Hope this is some help. As others have mentioned, this is one long a*^ motor. To keep the original 30 hood, I had to reverse the firewall and then recess it a additional 4+". Motor is offset 1/2" to p***enger side to give a clearer shot for the steering shaft between the column and box. Canuck
Thanks canuck nice frame mounts how did you shape them? I was thinking something similar for the block.
Thanks CM I started working on them today got the drivers side almost done need to finish welding and clean them up and paint them. Here are some pics, dont mind the placement of the frame mounts I tacked them in then decided I was going to move the engine forward a couple of inches due to the trans cross member, this thing was built with a flathead when I got it, but I wanted more power.
