66 model, 401 cu.in..........My buddy has one, with a cracked stock, 4bbl. intake, and major vacuum leak. His questions:Will his stock Carter 4bbl, work on an aftermarket aluminum intake? Any one in particular? I think, ideally, he would like to keep it stock, but has driving it on his mind as well, with the nice weather here.................. Z Man.....................any recommendations?.....................It's just a driver, not Hot Rodded at all. Anyone, have any intakes available, ( stock or other 4bbl.type)? P.M. me, and I'll forward the info to him. Many thanks!
Hi, 66 nailhead would be a 401 or 425 and if it has a carter it should be a 401 intakes are only avialable stock cast iron either carter or 1 year only q-jet 4 bbl as no aftermarket one on the market plenty of dual quad manifolds along with a few tripowers from what I have seen stay away from the Offenhouser dual quad as it flows worse than stock 4 bbl, if you get another stock intake check out V8 buick and Doc's dual plane manifold http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=225437 if you are interested I have a stock intake from my 64 and I do have a 66 q-jet with carb that I might be interested in parting with good luck Jim
sometimes the vacuum leaks are caused by the freeze plug under the intake. i actually have 401/425 intake with the freeze plug in the bottom that needs replacement and a stock 4bbl carb also. pm me if interested
