So I've been not working on my '60 Intl' for a while. Kind of sat it off to the side and left it in bare metal waiting. Well I picked up an S10 for $61 and decided that maybe I'd put the Intl' on that chassis instead of going through clipping the stock chassis.

So check out the 364 I just happen to have laying around... :D

And the Intl'... a 1960 model...

Mock up of the drivetrain in the chassis...

3/8" plate to move the stock motor mounts 5" forward to better position...

Some 4x4 I had laying around as well....

Dye Chem and a scribe.. then the cut off wheel....

A little work and here is what I ended up with....

Bolt them up and check the positioning...

I guess I can grab a transmission mount at the parts store tomorrow and be living in high cotton... plus I can lose the 2x4 scrap... :)

I still need to move the rear end before I can work on body mounts and get it all set up on the chassis. Wether I got a long or short wheelbase the Intl' doesn't match up.

The engine also sits a little higher than I would like, but is better for some of the clearance issues. I'm gonna need to run a remote oil filter but I can at least run the stock starter....

I am contantly amazed at S10's being resurected. I definitely agree with using the whole frame instead of clipping but the S10 problem areas are flexing at the front dogleg(easy reinforce if ya need to) and the rear likes to self destruct on occasion. I've had many never give a problem and some that may have just been built on mondays! Good luck with it.

Cool! I've got an old S-10 cluttering the backyard, and I'll donate it to the next International/Nailhead project that comes along.

That is a genuine Buick GS bellhousing. Very rare. But I just happened to have two of the whole setups. And the GS exhaust manifolds as well...

The first rub is that I do not have a set of exhaust manifolds that work. The GS passenger side manifold works. A regular 401 driver side works. I hate to split up a set, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

That is rare....in all my years of messing with nailheads, I've never run across one.

    nice.

dont split up two sets of exhaust... just stop bein a lazy bitch and build headers... PS. dont move the rear. just torch the factory welds in the frame and make it as long as you need it. less work too

Looked at it this morning (this one is a 92) and it doesn't look like that can be done. It's inside the other rail for all of 4 inches, I need 6. I can just weld in another piece. I'll figure it out today, but first I have to fix the Ice Cream Express....

so I split the frame and tacked a piece inside to get the stretch. made sure everything is kosher, checked the wheelbase and rail alignment about fifteen times. then I started to box it all in, got the top done.. tomorrow the sides...
welding in 100+ heat is swell...

Zman----You never cease to amaze me. I love the International. After I saw it at your shop in December in bare metal, its great to see that its finally going to have some legs and a great power plant. All the best to you on the project....

By the way, hows the 57 buick with the jag suspension coming along? I took your idea and am using a jag IFS for my 51 Ford pick up. Its a fairly easy fit from what I can see. I'm not sure whether its going to be low enough for me. Keep us posted on the 57 as well.

I need to do an update on the '57, working on a mandrel bent exhaust and a couple of other small things... Waiting for a slow couple of days at the shop so I can finally cut and buff the damn thing.... Maybe I'll get to do that in the next couple of weeks.

It's not bad, but exhaust clearance is a PITA. I'll end up making a set of headers since I don't want to split up the GS manifolds... Maybe I should sell a kit... :D:rolleyes:

not a terrible idea... mounts, crossmembers, and headers... hell even make up boxing plates... "cut to length" jobs

Got more done on the boxing of the frame but can't/won't finish the frame until I can get it on the lift.

I have not forgotten, we've been getting stuff done. The cab is on the frame and the bed is getting there.

Yeah who woulda thought I'd use a Nailhead? :D

I wanted something different after the 58-59 Chevy's got popular. It's definitely different. I really dig the front ends.

  29. Looks like you could put some skirts on the front!

Gawd it's been a while but if memory serves A-body control arms would fit that crossmember and widen your track a bit.
