ohhh nooo, they're a real lot more $$ than $500...you should just stick with your classic sbc and stop looking any further for a Nailhead. Those guys that are runnin those Nailheads never really liked them any ways!!
so what's the realistic horsepower/torque ratio for nailheads? how high can you go?...are they reliable engines? they look and sound great...I dont know the dry lakes racing history of these engines? were they just as cool to have other than a flathead back in the 50's?
Ya there no good why would you want to be different from everyone else. Keep your SBC and be just like them
old wolf, you going to run it with the 4 jet carbs? I'm really like to know how it will run....keep us posted
DAMN Evel that is lookin good. I have the same valve covers and plug wires for my 425 LONG LIVE THE NAILHEAD!!!!!
Great Pics...love it...looks familiar, was it at the del mar show this year or the GNRS? ....BTW does anybody have a link to cool hotroded nailhead viseos....im sure lots of people here would love to see em' running too!!
Here's a pic of the 401 in my '50 Sedan delivery, and it came out of a 65 Wildcat i bought for 500 bucks!
My last post here was 2/2/09. Moving slowly on the deuce but the engine and Tremec are in the car for locating the steering column and building the floor pans. I needed to make a firewall recess for the distributor. An early '70s GM vacuum accumulator tank for headlight door actuation, cut in half, fit the bill I'm starting to get excited!
Hey 35 Woodie, Glad to see you're making progress on the roadster! What are you planning for steering components? Shoebox
Shoebox, I'm using a Vega box, a 1934 Ford steering column with the original ignition lock that I have cut down, and a '37 banjo wheel
I know I'm kinda late on this thread but heres my 364 ready and waiting for the rest of the car to be ready!
This thread couldn't have popped up at a better time. I just bought a 65 Rivi with the SuperWildCat 425 with factory 2 x 4s. Pictures coming soon.
im looking at 425 nailheads for sale....and looks like you can get a complete car for around $2000 with an original running engine.....sounds good? saw a 64 wildcat on craigslist for 1900 says the engine and tranny are in great shape
Here's one that I had on the front page of BuickStreet.com for a while. It's the engine from a 66 Electra I used to own. I also set up some cool lighting in my shed one day after a polishing session and took some shots into Photoshop to play. Here's one I like. I call it "Nailhead Splendour"...
