just got my hands on a good running 401, dude at the junk yard was trying to talk me into a th400 w/ the switchpitch converter, thought sounded interesting, but i'm really hell bent to put a 4 speed in it. i realize the bellhousing and realated components are like hens teeth, are there any other ways of getting a 4 speed behind it? kits available, adaptors, i've got access to a few good 4 speeds other option is rebuilding a 400, but if the parts are approx the same as a rebuild, i'd rather stick the green into a 4 speed
Hey PBR, don't know if you saw this post earlier, but here's a link to this same question that I asked about a week ago. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=UBB1&Number=210753&Forum=All_Forums&Words=236&Match=Username&Searchpage=1&Limit=25&Old=allposts&Main=210753&Search=true#Post210753 I'm also interested to see if there are any other options.
Did you buy the switch-pitch in the deal...? I'd stick the money you'd save running that automatic into the shoebox because "THE LONESTAR ROUNDUP IS ONLY "FOUR" MONTHS AWAY"! Call if you need help you "Knucklehead"! Mark
I checked with transadaptors and 500, full kit to put the manual in, pops said he'd give me his rebuilt M-22, and i have all the rest of the part to do it, or 150 for the 400 and it would need a full rebuild...sounds like a horse a piece... Mark i may need some help soon, should have the fenton soon, pops said he would power coating it for me...what a great dad! 2x1 intake should be had next week, just gotta get it all in, but it should be ready for the LSRU Looks like i need a 3rd job to support my habit
