Suedesled...this is the early motor with the round ports. I wish you had the early style. I've got more time in the flanges than I do in the actual headers.

To make the flanges I used a 2 1/2" wide and 3/8" thick steel. Measured several times and drilled the port holes first. Then clamped the flanges to a set of manifolds with the ports lined up and drilled the bolt holes. Then I used the plaz to get rid of some of the bulk and give them a nice look. The port holes were drilled with an 1 1/2" hole saw. Worked great with the 1 1/2" U bends.

PS...I guess it would be nice if I posted some finished pics

They look great! Somebody needs to make flanges for the 264/322 heads.

  8. Clark,
    Did you use a TIG?

Was it hard to weld the relatively thin tubing to the thick(er) flanges?

Any lessons learned that you'd care to pass on to others?

    Thanks,
    Gary

Big Dad..we lost our white header coat guy. We're looking pretty hard for a new one right now. Unfortunately the best way I've been told to do it is have them coated silver scuff and paint with high heat paint....actually isn't a bad idea if you think about it.

Gary..Mig. I've done several sets and no problems. I did learn to tack them to the flanges on the underside then copletely weld them on the inside.
