I have a chance to pick up a 36K mile 65 401 Nailhead with a 400sp trans.I know what it costs to rebuild one.The gentleman wants $1500 for it.I havent heard it run but he will show me the car it came out of that he put in a 425.Good,bad,fair,what do you think?
Sounds pretty spendy to me, I would concider it a core until you have seen the bearings and cylinder walls first hand.
Couple of years ago picked up a 66 Riv out of Kijiji for $500. Running, driving, just lots of rust in floor. Pulled 425 engine and SP400 and a few other pieces and traded rest out for over $700 in body work. They are out there. Canuck
The trans is a switch pitch.I have one in my 40(avatar)that i am happy with.No problems and works great.Dont understand the troublesome statement from SQHD.Now remember it is a 36k original motor and trans.I cant rebuild one for that.
way to mucj for a run of the mill motor sitting on the floor..it doesnt matter if the car is on the premisis or not..its not running..its a core..big gamble
