The originals are a great deal more, ah, fetching. A friend was shopping the Charlotte NSRA flea market many years ago and found a complete set at an affordable price. He thought "those are about the tackiest, more tasteless, cheesiest auto accessories I have ever seen. What sort of a redneck moron would put those on his car?" and walked on. When he returned half-an-hour later to buy them, they had been sold. I found a single at the Louisville NATS about 10 years ago. She's a beauty. Lucas

Not the same but this thread reminds me that as a kid in the early to mid 60's our elderly neighbor had a "brody" knob (we called them "Okie knobs" at the time) on his steering wheel that had a picture of a lady in a swimming suit and when he turned the steering wheel and the knob was upside-down, her clothes came off! Needless to say it was fun to ride in his car.

I don't have a problem with them...they are over the top with a vintage ambience and used with a fitting build it would just compliment the big picture...it's art and women have been used as a embellishments in the mechanical world throughout the whole period the Hamb covers.

Kind of like those garage calendars with the bathing beauty covered by a swimsuit on a mylar sheet. Lift it up for a clearer picture. Pretty exciting when you're thirteen. Or, 69. :)

No kidding. These days I suppose the calendars are not "politically correct"! What a bunch of BS!

Let's be honest. They never were politically correct and that's why they were in the shop area of the garage. But, you think your mom didn't know what was going on with that plastic overlay? She just didn't have to tools to stop it-unless she found it under your mattress. :) OTOH, if it was your mom posing for the calendar, then you probably had a whole other sort of problem-and a lot of friends stopping over.

Pinups and Hotrods, Jam and Peanut Butter, This stuff was really big in Wartime (who the heck could blame anyone for dreaming of or witnessing beauty over the Hell they were experiencing), and the Hotrod, Custom, Race Movements were forever garnished with the femme fatale...for good luck and celebration of all things beautiful.

As a young fella growing up you are hitting many of the things I experienced growing up big time...

Thanks @shortypu that's a nice Custom and those T-Birds have really nice lines...so from what I gather the Ladies on the caps stay stationary through solid attachment or special connection to the cap itself?
