From one 40' Coupe owner to another, I think "Road Star" , with a shooting star over the top, nails it. Good Luck Howard

We all like roadstar - so what about a synonym to it?
Take one word from this first list (synonyms to road) and then one from the second list (synonyms to star) and create a new one! Ex. "Street Light"

alley, artery, asphalt, avenue, back street, boulevard, byway, cobblestone, concrete, conservation road, corduroy road, course, crossroad, direction, drag, dragway, drive, expressway, grid road, highway, ice bridge, lane, line, main drag, main line, parking lot, parkway, p***age, pathway, pavement, pike, roadway, route, street, subway, tarmac, terrace, thoroughfare, throughway, thruway, track, trail, turnpike, viaduct, way

    -
    -
Ok...thesaurasus.com doesn't have any synonyms to star..WTF...so make up your own. You get the idea.

I'm not into nameing a vehicle or even a small boat (I had to name my kids). I also don't need any flowers on/in my rig, dolls and/or stuffed animals, cartoons, or pastel paint colors. My wife & daughters would like that, but I still have some male hormones running through me (reduced amount......but still there).

  10. Just call it "The Black 40."

I'm sure the owner of this one won't mind.... [IMG]

You speak "Chevy" pretty good Fat Hack.... [IMG]

El Camino and Nova also translate to "The Highway and Won't Go."

Seems like Roadstars cars usually go pretty good. [IMG]

I wouldn't worry about naming it, I've never really named any of my cars, My Dad calls my bird "Blackie". At one time I had two of those things and named them Heckle and Jeckle, after the black cartoon crowes but it didn't stick.

I think a car has to have something really unique for the name to stick. It would have to involve the split windshield, the roll & pleats, the copper color contrasts, the ribbed bumpers, or even the raked stance. The car's freaking beautiful, but I can't think of name that would do it justice and still be descrptive of what it is other than Rudy's 40.

  14. Hey I been up all night thinkin' about this. Actually not but it sounds good.
The reason show cars like the Rose etc. get named is to attract attention.
Name it Ol' Blue. Yea I know its black but it'll make folks stop and wonder. [IMG]
I guess if ya got to go with the whole color thing you could name it "Mid-nite in the Cypress Swamp."

If it doesn't always come in first places at the races it's a pretender..
No one always comes in first place,
    Everyone/Every car's a pretender.

Car names are like ***les on Art work. They can set a varbal mood in motion for the viewer, or they can be simply a method of cataloging that's more imaginative and rememberable than "Un***led # 1247"
Imagine if we had to remember a car by something like "Barris Custom #1247" instead of "AlaKart"?
People would be saying "What did you think of "Cushenbery Custom #7" instead of "What did you think of Cushenbery's "Matador"?
Or "I really liked that '40 Ford, Barris Custom #746!" and the personyour talking to says, "You dummy! Barris Custom #746 was a '48 Studebaker, You must be thinking of # 748!"

See, names are an easy way for people to recognize what other people are talking about when they identify a car by name rather than number or a long verbal description.

Funny you mention names, me and flatheadpete were giving Kritz some hell yesterday about naming his shoebox... something nice and gay like sh-boom. [IMG] I don't think there is any problem with naming your car, as long as it is called "Roadstar". And PLEASE do not have it painted anywhere on the car, that car is too nice to scribble on! Just my 2 cents -Joe

DrJ how do you breath with your head that far up your ***?

  23. Don't worry Joe I never planned on puting a name ON the car anywhare I find that terribly tacky. I was just thinking for the sighn.

DrJ, Your thoughts are fully understood by ME, and well taken. I would hate to have to refer to it as a number.
But if I don't name it it will be discribed to others as "The black "40" with the copper and white interior". [IMG]

I call my T-bucket "My ****" all the time. Jdubbya and the gang call it "The Peter Beter". I think it should be named 'Denise'. Yeah, that's it. End of post. It's now officially known as 'Denise'.
P.S. Mudsled was a perfect name for the Impal...I mean Caprice. [IMG]

I don't often agree with DrJ, in fact mostly never, [IMG] BUT his point is exactly what Roadstar and I were talking about. The 40 HAS to be refered to as something. Way too many 40's running around to distingish one from another. Even if he didn't put it's name on a sign, he still needs to start refering to it by a name.

I do like the name Road Star with maybe a shooting star in the background or corner of the sign and I do also like Steel Tux with the sign done in black and white with a touch of copper accents. Maybe the front of a tux in the background of the sign. Can you just picture Rudy walking around the Autorama all weekend with one of those stupid fake tuxedo t-shirts on. [IMG]

I'm sure whatever Rudy decides will be in extremly good taste.
