Back in 1965 Shell Canada use to sponser a coast to coast rally and a Canadian rally driver by the name of Scott Harvey who was under contract with Chrysler prepared a 1965 Hemi Coronet for Nascar legend David Pearson to drive. The car entered was actually a detuned 426 Hemi 10.25 to 1 compression dropped from 12:5 to 1.
The car was equipped with the typical rally lights etc, C-body disc brakes, heavy duty rear springs, Dunlop sp 900x15 tires. The car had front and rear skid plates, a high capacity oil pan, and an extra lancer gas tank mounted over the rear axle for extra fuel and weight. The car apparently was a lot of trouble for Pearson and his co-driver and did not finish the race. The car was returned to Chrysler and was said to have been returned to a ss/aa car.

The Silver Fox............My favorite. Many don't know that although Richard Petty won more races, Pearson had a better winning percentage.:D :D :D
