I bought a Holly 600 from National Carburetor I have yet to actually use it. Seems to be pretty good although it is all glue together with this white gooey shit? I had an old hot rod builder come to my house about a month ago to buy a 302 engine I was selling and he told me he used a couple of their carbs before and had nothing but bad things to say about them? I am not very mechanicly inclined so I showed the carb I bought to a mechanic friend of mine and he told me it was a good buy. But then again I have never used it so who knows Then again a screw did fall out of it when I opened the box
I dealt with them a couple of times when I lived near Jacksonville. I had good luck with them. Several of my buddies had their carbs done there. I was never aware of any of them having problems. They were pretty much the "go to" carb people in the Northeast Florida/Southern Georgia region, IMO.
Thanks guys , anyone else ? hey have a good buy on a 600 -1850 on ebag right now , that's why I'm curious .. dave
Try these guys instead: http://www.allamericancarburetor.com/ We have bought probably 10 or more carbs from them, all have been perfect. I also sent my Holley 750 DP to them for refurbishing, and it came back looking like new, even tinted the correct color. Great people great prices. Don Here is some of their work on our carbs:
I had Nat'l rebuild/restore a Quadrajet. They did exactly what they said for exactly how much they said. They have a good rep.
Let me recant my statement. It was All American Carbs we dealt with. Sorry. Getting a little old. I was just thinking a carb rebuilder out of Jax. I have no experience with National Carburetor from Jax. I've had All American re-do Holleys for me and currently have a 3X2's set up of 2gc's they rebuilt and modified. All American is good. National I just don't know anything about one way or the other.
Talked with them on the phone today......ordered a performance re manufactured quadrajet for my 305 small block......fingers crossed...
