Do any of you guys get this magazine? I was a test/tune last night and a couple of pro racers came over and was looking the "Nightmare" over. They mentioned that National Dragster did an article on the HA/GR's at the Indy Goodguys. For the attention that this thing drew at a test/tune run, I can not wait until there is a meet somewhere close and I carry it down there! I have a funny feeling that Ryan may have started something that is fixing to snowball and run away. I handed the guys the rules for the HA/GR's and two of them started talking about building their wives one to run. I told them to bring it on, the more, the merrier. They seemed to love the idea of a "bare bones" type of dragster. I felt really good when I dusted off an early model Camaro with slicks and a small block on the 1/8 mile track.
Congrats on dusting of the camero. We figured it out a couple of years ago it just a matter of time before the right peope see the cars and it takes off. Thats why the GoodGuys have been letting us run with them. Lots of cars another cl***,they love the low cost race cars.
If you build them...they will come. I have not talked to a drag strip owner yet that has not been interested in these cars. Very easy to promote. There are a lot of guys out there who have given up on drag racing because it has just got too cost prohibitive to run and have fun. Here is a deal where they can build an entire car for what they put into building a decent SBC. This forum also gives the potential car builder an opportunity to see other cars being built and ask questions. It reminds me of the JR. Dragster cl***....and the mini sprints. Could grow just like they did...wouldn't that been cool.
That would be cool! My only problem is, I am the only one at present with one of these cars in my area. If I can get a couple of more built, I think the local tracks would be interested in running them in their own program. It looks like you guys in the midwest get to have all the fun for the present.
