Anybody else out there who collects National Trail Raceway items? I have original programs, upcoming event sheets, trophy's, home movies and hundreds of vintage photos. Trails was opened in 1964 and I started going there in 1965 and just cant get enough from this dragstrip. National Trails was the home of The Rod Shop and Jegs and was one of the best NHRA Division 3 tracks ever. The NHRA Springnationals came to Trails in 1972 and stayed till 2005 but then it was called the Pontiac Excitement Nationals. If I could I would start a web site for others to share there story's, photos and movies for people like me. I am only interested in the years when Clark Rader owned the track before it was sold to NHRA. If you have any items you want to part with please contact me. My scanner is down right now so I cant share any of my personal photos but I will start this thread with these Willys gasser pictures. Lets keep it HAMB friendly (old) long live the Super Strip!
They should have let Roger Gustin buy the strip, instead of NHRA. He had numerous plans to revamp it.
Been there a few times. I would be interestd in the film(s) from there. I collect film from other tracks as well. Send me a PM if intersted in trading DVDs.
The only thing I've collected from national Trails is mud on my O/T cars from their overflow lot. Management is kind enough to let us Rallycrossers use the place during the off season
In 1972 , I was 13 I hitched from Pittsburgh to NTR for the first national event Wednesday to Monday. Boy my old man beat my ass for that one...........lol. Well worth it.
I drove solo in my bird 800 miles there to race at y nats., but had a bad rear ujoint and had to watch instead. Still worth it . Going back in August. Good people.

Here is a thread I have been building with vintage NTR pics: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=339875 NTR will have a 45th Anniversary race & Show may 29th - 31st. Full schedule with "Flashlight Drags" on Friday, Nostalgia Funnies, Gassers, Stock/Super Stock, etc on Saturday, car show with 1/8th-mile "fun runs" and Ohio George Montgomery will be there all weekend. Also a Rod Shop Reunion and a Hyde Park Reunion. (Hyde Park was a track in Heath, Ohio, about 10 miles from Trails that closed in '71 or so). Spectators are 20/Friday, $15 Saturday. Car show entry is $20 for car, driver and passenger, and all proceeds from the show will be donated to Jimmy Hoberg, the NTR starter that was badly injured in an auto accident. I'll post more details later.
Mike thanks for the pic, here it is turned. Any word on my stuff, both what you have and the others in the shop? Dave.
