Thought I would let you guys know there is going to be a pretty good auction this Saturday in Concord NC. I'm not good with the internet, so I'm going to try to post a link to the photos of the cars/trucks, maybe someone smarter can put them here. Looks to be a few diamonds in the rough. I'm broke, so just figured another hamber might wanna get their hands on these. I'm close, so lemme know if I can help. http://www.auctionzip.com/cgi-bin/photopanel.cgi?listingid=904676&category=0&zip=28001&kwd=
JJ Have a great time. And if you have a little extra $$abd wanna pick up one of the early 40's art deco Chevy truck cabs in decent condition...... Wish I had the time to come and the dough to make it worthwhile!
Oh yeah? I sort of want to go. I figure since I cannot for the life of me make progress on this stupid car I may as well have fun!
He had planned to start a military museum when he had a sudden heart attack. The stuff in the link is not even the GOOD stuff. I'm talking unfired WWII dated 1911's with mint belt rigs, Rommel's staff car, stacks of mint WWII M1 Garands, its unbelievable.
If the estate still wants to go through with this please contact me via PM. I'm meeting tomorrow with reprentatives of Armed Forces Museum and Archives of the Carolinas tomorrow. It's a new museum with a lot of retired military backing, but they're just getting started in the Mathews area. I'd be glad to put the two in contact. As a musuem guy I'd hate to see a collection this good split up when it was intended for a museum.
As usual when someone passes, the kids don't really care about all that. They just see is pop's old junk and dollar signs I guess. ***EDITED TO ADD*** Some of us Iron Lords are going to the auction. If your museum buddies are too, tell them to find us and I'll introduce them. We'll not be hard to find. I'm sure it won't be long they'll have to decide what to do with what doesn't sell at auction.
