Neal quit selling books several years ago and closed his place...but he still lives in ColoRODo...he is a close friend of mine...anything I can help you with...??? R-
Thanks for the response Roger. Several years ago a good friend was living close to Neal's store and bought me a blue pinstriped coffee cup. I recently knocked it off of my workbench and broke it. I was just in hopes of maybe buying another from him. It was just a great reminder of how important that friend is to me. Appreciate your offer.
I'll ring him up for you... Edit: Just talked to Neal and he told me that Don Reed did those cups and he just carried them in his store...he also gave me Don's phone number and if you'll PM me, I'll p*** it on...BUT...he said Don just had hip surgery and you should wait a week or so before you call...cool...??? 40StudeDude, Has anyone ever told Neal that his Old Cars Illustrated magazine was a lot like the HAMB before we had an internet? I've got a full run, and many of the HAMB threads remind me of features in OCL, pre war Race Cars, automobilia, and the odd ball cars that were sometimes featured. Bob
Old Cars Illustrated was a great magazine. Years ago (when the magazine was still being published) I sent a complimentary letter to Neal, praising his coverage of vintage race cars. He sent me back a packet of a half dozen back issues with antique race car features. Great magazine, great guy!
I'll look through an old issue of OCI when one turns up in a search for something else. I sent Neal a box of original sales brochures and race programs from the 1920's-1930's and they made up a nice feature of collecting race car literature. I often wonder were some of the cars are now that were is swap meet coverage back in those days. Bob
