Any one that went to the Hot Rod Reunion in Bowling Green might have seen this Bug Eyed Sprite. Well there is a cool story to this car. It was built by Bill Bierman as a Fathers Day present to his dad. Back in the 60's Bills dad raced one of these cars. And there has always been a photo of his dad as a young man next to his Bug Eyed Sprite hanging on Bills car trailer door. So Bill recreated it for his dad with out him knowing. It was a surprise. They pulled it down in a enclosed trailer and waited until Fri afternoon to give it to him. Needless to say it was a really cool thing to witness. His dad was happy as hell. The car is done as close to the orginal as could be. And it sure looks great. Powered by 348 tri power and four speed and a solid mounted Olds rear. Well here are a few pics of just after he was given the car. oh also look for it at the HAMB Drags it will be there rippin up the 1320.
We saw that at the meet-n-greet Friday night, looked like a wild ride. I thought it was going to jump over the truck when they put it on the trailer though.
Cool story. Maybe my son (age 40) will recreate my old B/MP Camaro (396 tunnel ram, chrysler 4spd, Dana rear w/4.88) for next fathers day , He was only 4 when I ran it so I'll have to leave some pictures laying around to give him a hint Very cool fathers day gift. I'll bet it really thouched some fond memories. Frank
We saw it there as well. Very cool looking. First thing I thought of was Steve Hendrickson cuz he had one that he road raced.
It was previewed in May by monsterflake... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=112768&highlight=bug+eyed+sprite Mutt
