14 pages(and seven months) on this thread and nobody mentioned Tom Hoovers "Showtime". First car related t-shirt I ever owned had a picture of it doing a monster burnout.
In Australia in the mid seventies there was neat little Morris Minor gasser based in Canberra ACT called "Gas-Trick " it was painted dark brown for obvious reasons(just say the name fast). I used to take a 10 minute detour when walking home from highschool to check out that car as the owner often would park it next to his house. Another cool car ,an FJ holden Modified Production class sedan, had the name "Short & Shakey" I think Mick Borg raced that car Here's a pic of Gas-Trick from the visualvelocity web site, cheers RM c
On the West Coast during the 80's and 90's there were two TA/FC that match raced alot. They were "The Boogie Man" and "Evil Wicked Mean and Nasty". And my favorite is John Shoemaker's TAD "American Eagle" . RIP John.
I bought my 60 from a friend. He bought it from his friend who had built the car with the help of yet another friend. The "yet another friend" was a roller skater. The guy who actually built the car had another hobby, fur trapping. So the car was called "Traps and Skates." In addition to the name painted on the doors, there was a caricature of a guy in a little red wagon holding a trap while the wagon was being pulled by a guy on roller skates. Never did photograph it because it wasn't me. Wish I had now. Actually wish I still had the car. I sold it back to Traps.

Amoung their cars were the above mentioned Crankenstien a 67 chevelle, Tracula a 56 chevy, Rodan a 55 or 56 T-bird, Godzilla a maverick then a P/S Pinto. There were a few more old school names, mighty mouse, top cat, dennis the menace, small torque, alive-n-kickin', only a toy, blue max, the tonowanda dart, pure hell, rapid rodent, psycho, wild pumpkin, wheels of fortune, maxwell's silver hammer, panic, assassinm northwind, yankee raider, southern pride, thomas's promises, time machine, cobra rat, war cat, purple haze, outer limits, poetry in motion, devil with a blue dress, every last dollar, one in a million......there were so many..... I liked back in the day when the names showed up on the street cars as well, then again, way back the race car and street car were one in the same.
My favorite of all time was a local fellow by the name of Tom Tarrant. Had a Plymouth SS/A that was sponsored by the family biz, Tarrant Masonry Contractors. It was called "The Mortar Forker ll". I have searched but can't find any pics.
_________________________________________________________________ Very sorry to hear about that........ beautiful car......best of luck
__________________________________________________________________ More than likely that would be an old Grumpy Jenkins car. Either it was his or he tuned it....... there is an old story about that car....it goes when they retired that car, rather than sell it and possibly give up some secrets, it was stripped and cut up and scrapped.
