hi, anyone have any pics. of a 1975 monza that ran c/altered #1235 in ohio called GROUNDS FOR DIVORCE, would like to know as much history as possible, EMAIL@ DWAYNEGERHARD@YAHOO.COM. THANKS!!!
Used to race with a guy who had a big block '67 Biscayne wagon he called "Dragin' Wagin'" and it had a picture of a cartoon dragon with goggles on, his tounge hanging out, and his tail "waggin'".
In the sixties there was a Chev powered Prefect C altered out of Toronto called Percy the Perfect Prefect. The owner built a Fiat later on which he called Percy Also. He was a little weird.
I remember a brown '69 six pack Superbee called "Plain Brown Wrapper" and a Purple HEMI Duster called "Statutury Grape"
I always liked "The Green Weenie" Corvette! Story I remember was that somebody said the 'Vette was an, er, extension of his manhood ( that old cliche'), the car was green so.... Lifted from my "Great Oregon Racers" thread- Originally Posted by Gary Reynolds Of course! Yes, Eyerly! A winning car. Do you remember The Green Weenie Corvette roadster? My memory is so-so! Gary, The guy that owned "The Green Weenie" was Rick Miller, He was a few grades ahead of me at McMinnville High School. In about 1965 he crashed a 57 Vette outside of town. It left him paralyzed. He bought the Stingray and teamed up with the Bachmier Bros. (not sure of the spelling) after their Corvette, "The Sour Grape" burned.
A couple I always liked. Friend in H.S. his dad ran a 67 or 68 camaro with a big mopar in it tha was named Strange Brew. My aunts brother was George Sharp all his cars were always named Sharp Shooter.
St. Gen Dragstrip, 70s. Screamin 6 cyl 4 dr Anglia named"Pappy's Six", 56 chev named "Bits+Pieces" And 55 chevy raced all over "Raging Bull"
A couple from around here that I don't recall seeing on this thread yet.. Haulin' Henry - Factory 427 '67 Fairlane Old Trapper - Several record holding late '60s/early '70s MoPars Mr. Magoo - A series of Novas and Chevelles belonging to a friend of mine Brer Fox - Mid '60s MoPar Elephant Hunter - Hemi powered Scout now owned by H.A.M.B.er Saxxon (loved watching that little truck tear down the track)! Lil' Scrapper - Impressively quick early '60s Falcon six Little Boh Creep (my favourite) - fibreglass '53 F100 altered (too cool)! and one that belongs to fellow H.A.M.B.er Jay.S's street gasser Chevy II: Stage Fright -Dave
no pics but a couple of good ones I remember from Windsor Dragway (Ontario Canada) back in the day: Candy red Corvette called "Brandy's Mink" Guess poor Brandy never got that fur coat and "Jack in the Green Stock" who still races BTW, although it's a clone of the original car
I built a 69 Bronco Sand Dragger several years back, call it PATSY'S NITEMARE, my wife still comments on that....Ted
one of my favorites,..sharp looking dragster too,..its a shame he died in it! http://www.flickr.com/photos/57343654@N03/5480955302/
A couple of fairly well known western Canadian cars, run by the Rutherford brothers, Steve, Dave & Gord Buckshy Falcon Originally raced by Dave with a SBF/Toploader, car was parked for several seasons after the Pinto was introduced, then came back with youngest brother Gord as driver, this time with 429 PI BBF/C6. Gord still has the car, now running 545 BBF/C6 Buckshy Pinto Chassis/drivetrain by Steve, driven by Dave, car had a number of combos, longest running combo being stroked 351C, originally w/toploader, later w/ Doug Nash torsion tube 5 speed. Sadly, car was badly damaged in a finishline crash in Calgary, after the previous pair of R.E.D.'s down the track oiled the lane. Car was retired (they still have it), and Dave replaced the Pinto with an o/t Fairmont
I had an A/Altered in the 60's called "Pure Purgatory" A dragster in the 80's called "No Couth" But my all time favorite was the old fuel dragster called "JADE GRENADE"
My wife has named the 39 Olds coupe gasser wannabe that we're building- "NEVER TOO OLDs". Maybe 'cause it's taking me so long to build.
Right now I am building a Sling shot Front engine dragster with a 1500Hp Japanese motor...WHY? because I can. Anyway, I named it "The Kamakaze"
Hi that was my dads car. My dad just recently passed and a friend of his asked me if I knew who bought his car. I did a search found your post.
