I've seen pictures of just the wheel before but not a video of one on a car. Extra cost options like that were often a hard sell but when cars became available right after WWII the dealers loaded every option they could to get the extra money out of them and especially dealer installed items before they hit the sales floor. I remember that my grandparents had a 46,7 or 8 but I think 46 Chevy fleetline fast back when I was little that my grandfather had gone to Fred Beezely Chevrolet here in town and put down a deposit to get in line to get a car when they came in and depending on your place in line when the next load of cars came in you either got your pick or got what they had. My dad had said that they just told foks "that one is yours take it or leave it and go to the back of the list.".

I don’t need one, but sure want one!

  6. My 1st car, in 1952, was a 1940 Chevrolet, Special Deluxe 4 door. It had that wheel. I don't recall thinking it was anything out of the ordinary. BUT, I NEVER saw another until about 2016. one showed up here at a local show in a 1941 Chevrolet.

My understanding is Chevrolet offered these in 1940 and a different model "Spinner Wheel " in 1941.
They fit GM steering columns until about 1996. There is one posted on Craigslist in Northern Va. 4t Wheel in Red.jpg 1940 Accessory Wheel description.jpg 4T1 Accessory Spinner Wheel a .jpg 01-spinner_1.jpg
