If you have seen my a little bit about me writing, you know I might get a '63 comet and I was wondering if I can find out a little bit about the car and the one I think it is. a pillarless 2dr hardtop
is a for goodtimes car, strict, small, but make the rattle sound. make by pontiac or is by plymouth, i know.
Do you have any real info on the car. Pics? Anything. It's gotta be worth a fortune being "a pillarless hardtop". I've never seen a hardtop with pillars.
all right it is the first year of the ht model and first to have a V8 available nice little car think longer falcon, all mechanical stuff from falcons fit, and most from mustangs ,
Man, that is just freakin' mean. He digs old cars, let him be and help him out. We'll make him eloquent as we go along. Hell, call me an idiot, I thought comets came along in 1964.
You're right, I re-read what he wrote, and it made more sense. It took a few times though. I was just kidding, no offense.
the v8 was not offered until 64 so you looking at a 144 or 170 inline 6 with is a cool little motor not much of a tire bruner but fun for cheep i had a 61 comet with 144 and 2 speed auto 63 was also the last year for the fins, easy to lower, and disk brakes can be swaped with monarch/ granada spindles
Nope, the 260 V-8 was available in the 1963 Mercury Comet, along with the convertible option. Thanks! Tom - Glass_Packs
Correct. I had one. 63 Comet S-22 hardtop, black out, white in 260/4speed. Slower than stink, but bulletproof.
Many 63 comets were made by the Lincoln Mercury division of Ford Motor company the were manufactured from August 1962 till July 1963, the were assembled on the Ford small car platform but in 63 were more akin to the Ford Fairlane than the falcon. If you suspect the car your are looking at had a special former life as a drag race car or and even more rare Trans Am Sedan racer or rarer still African Rally preped vehicle, or one of the Bill Strope Prepared cars for the Nascar under series, of one he did for Parnelli Jones to climb Pike Peak with,it may actually have a history that could be researhed hd you posted a picture or even the serial number.
First year was 1960, and the Comet line was not even assigned yet to ford, or mercury. It was going to be under the Edsel line, but stood alone as just the Comet in 1960, and assigned under Mercury the following year in 1961.
