My 302 is cammed so I don't have a lot of low end torque. With the old setup, I was either slipping the clutch, stalling out, or spinning the tires. It just took too much finesse and effort for my taste. With the new set up I can ease off the clutch and she rolls out nicely.

Besides all that I wanted a Trac-Loc, so I killed two birds with one stone.

  3. Exactly what I am doing, slipping the clutch, hopping, etc.
This rear has the 3:50 positraction, with 200 miles on it, hate to think of swapping it out, with more $$$$.

Gear sets aren't that expensive in the overall scheme of things.....

  5. I'm not familiar with 9" Ford rears. Being that the Ford in mine is a 3:50, what's the next step up, (ratio) in a Ford rear ?

  6. The next common size up will be a 3.70, the next above that will be 3.89 which is what I'd personally recommend with the overdrive. Ford used the same carrier for all ratios, so it's just a matter of installing the gears and doing the set-up.

You can look at Jegs and Summit online for gear selections.
